which shall be exported from New Zealand, and sold
at such prices in a foreign market as shall show that
the articles are of fair quality.
MEAT.
A bonus of five hundred pounds (£500) will be
given on the first 100 tons of fresh meat exported
from New Zealand in vessels fitted with refrigerating
machinery. Such meat must have been collected in
a refrigerating chamber in this colony, and must
have been landed in Europe in sound marketable
condition.
CONDITIONS.
NOTICE of intention to claim any of the above
bonuses must be given in writing to the Colonial
Secretary not later than the 31st December, 1881.
The claim must be made before the 30th June, 1882.
The other conditions as to quantity, quality, and
value to be fulfilled to the satisfaction of an officer
appointed for the purpose by the Government.

obtained by application at the Colonial Secretary's
Office.

the name of the town in the County of Tara-
naki formerly called "Raleigh" has been altered to,
and is now officially known by, the name of

Approving and Appointing Bonding Warehouse.
CUSTOMS.—In exercise of the powers in me for
this purpose vested by "The Customs Regula-
tion Act, 1858," I, the Commissioner of Customs, do
hereby approve and appoint the under-mentioned
warehouse, viz.,-
Port of Dunedin.
Part of the ground and second floors of a brick
building situate on Section No. 24 of the Crawford
Street Block, in the City of Dunedin, having a front-
age to Vogel and Cumberland Streets; to be known
as
THE CUMBERLAND STREET BOND
—to be a warehouse for the reception of goods under
bond.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
sixteenth day of December, one thousand
eight hundred and eighty-one.

THE following Notice to Mariners, received from
the Marine Board, Sydney, is published for
general information.

LEADING LIGHT TOWERS, EASTERN CHANNEL, PORT
JACKSON.
ON and after the night of Tuesday, the 20th of
December next, a red light will be exhibited from
sunset to sunrise on each of the light towers lately
erected in the vicinity of Vaucluse Bay.
These lights, or the towers in the day time, kept
in line on a bearing of S. 1/2 E. (magnetic), will lead a
ship through the eastern channel, which has been
dredged to not less than 27 feet at low-water spring
tides.

IT is hereby notified for public information that His
Excellency the Governor in Council has been
pleased to extend to the 23rd December, 1882, the
Commission issued to the Hon. Sir William Fox,
bearing date the 23rd December, 1880, and published
in New Zealand Gazette No. 118 of the same date,
page 1767.

In the Supreme Court of New Zealand.—Regulæ
Generales, December, 1881.
BY virtue of the powers vested in us by law, it is
ordered by us, the Judges of the said Court,
with the approval of His Excellency the Governor
in Council, that the rule of practice relating to
swearing affidavits before Justices is hereby revoked,
and that the following rule be substituted in lieu
thereof:-
Swearing Affidavits before Justices.
- In addition to Rule 519 of the general rules of
procedure, affidavits may also be sworn before a
Registrar or Deputy-Registrar; and, in cases where
there is no such Registrar, or not at least three soli-
citors of the Court resident within five miles of the
residence of the party desiring to make an affidavit,
the same may be sworn before any Justice of the
Peace, who shall state in the jurat, after the word
"sworn," the words "there not being at least three
solicitors or a Registrar of the Supreme Court resi-
dent within five miles of the residence of the de-
ponent (A.B.)"
