THE following despatch from Her Majesty's
principal Secretary of State for the Colonies
is published for general information.

SIR,βI have the honor to inform you, with reference
to your Despatch No. 52, of the 5th September
last, that the Queen's Exequatur, empowering Mr.
G. W. Griffin to act as Consul at Auckland for the
United States of America, received Her Majesty's
signature on the 21st, and that the notification of
Her Majesty's approval of this appointment will
appear in the Gazette of the 25th instant.
