Appointing Day for Election of Members for Toi Tois
Road District, County of Southland.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section ten of "The Otago Roads
Ordinance 1871 Amendment Ordinance,
1874," it is enacted that, if from any cause whatever,
the persons entitled to vote at any election for any
subdivision of any district shall fail or neglect to hold
an election of members of the District Board of such
district on the day appointed by the said Ordinance
for that purpose, it shall be lawful for the Superin-
tendent, by Proclamation in the Gazette, to appoint
a day for the holding of such election, and an election
may be held upon the day so appointed, and the
election so held shall for all purposes whatsoever be
deemed to have been duly held on the day appointed
by the said Ordinance for holding the same: And
whereas the powers and authorities vested in the
Superintendent by the said section are, by "The
Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," now vested in the
Governor: And whereas the persons entitled to
vote in the election of members for the Toi Tois
Road District failed on the day appointed by "The
Otago Road Ordinance, 1871," to hold an election:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authori-
ties vested in me by the said Ordinance and Act, do
hereby proclaim and appoint that an election shall
be held on the twenty-sixth day of August, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty, of members of the
Road Board of the Toi Tois Road District.

Given under the hand of His Excellency
Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-fourth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
eighty.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

Town of North Invercargill proclaimed a Borough
under "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the fifteenth section of "The
Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," it is en-
acted that the Governor may, by Proclamation,
declare any of the several places specified in the
Third Schedule to the said Act in which a Municipal
Corporation has been established under the pro-
visions of an Ordinance of the Province of Otago
intituled "The Otago Municipal Corporations Ordi-
nance, 1865," to be a borough constituted under the
said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," from a
day to be named in such Proclamation; subject,
however, to certain conditions in the said section
mentioned:

And whereas the Town of North Invercargill, in
the Provincial District of Otago, is one of the places
specified in the said Third Schedule, and a petition
has been presented to His Excellency the Governor,
by sixty-two of the ratepayers of such town, praying
him to constitute such town into a borough under
the said "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876," and
such petition was, on the twenty-first day of May,
one thousand eight hundred and eighty, publicly
notified, and no petition from an equal or greater
number of such ratepayers was presented to His
Excellency within two months after such public
notification praying him not to assent to the prayer
of such first-mentioned petition:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, in exercise and pursuance of all powers and
authorities enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that, from and after the date of
this Proclamation, the said Town of North Invercar-
