HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
issue Letters of Naturalization, under "The
Aliens Act, 1866," in favour of the under-mentioned
person, viz. :--

Report of Decision on Claims to the Himatangi Block.

THIS report is published in compliance with the
provisions of "The Himatangi Crown Grants
Act, 1877."

To His Excellency Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in
and over Her Majesty's Colony of New Zealand
and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the
same.

SIR, Pursuant to directions contained in an Order
in Council dated the 13th day of April, 1878, I have
the honor respectfully to report:-

  1. That the Native Land Court, having, for the
    purpose of hearing the Native claims to the Hima-
    tangi Block, sat at Foxton, near the block, and taken
    full evidence concerning those claims, has decided,-

  2. That the land known as the Himatangi Block,
    containing 11,000 acres, more or less, as set forth in
    the First Schedule of "The Himatangi Crown Grants
    Act, 1877," is the property of the persons whose
    names are hereafter set forth, and in the manner,
    quantity, and proportions hereafter respectively de-
    scribed, that is to say, -

  3. That a wahi tapu or burial-place, now reserved,
    and consisting of 3 acres of land, as more par-
    ticularly described in the First Schedule to this
    report, should be granted to Roira Rangiheua, Peti-
    hira te Kuru, and Renata Ropiha, as trustees, to
    preserve and administer such burial-place for the use
    of the Ngatiteau, the Ngatituranga, and the Ngatitu-
    ranga hapus, and that the grant should be absolutely
    restricted from alienation.

  4. That the remaining 10,997 acres of land in the
    block are the property of the persons whose names
    are hereafter written in list marked "A" of persons
    entitled to share in the said block, and whose indi-
    vidual shares, whether defined geographically or not,
    are equal; that is to say, that each person so named
    possesses th part of the said area of 10,997 acres,
    but that such share or portion shall be taken in the
    following manner, namely:----

  5. That the ten persons of the Ngatiteau hapu
    whose names are written first in the said list "A"
    shall receive their undivided shares, equal in the
    aggregate to ths of the said area of 10,997 acres,
    in that portion of the block lying next to its northern
    boundary, and that such portion shall be bounded on
    the South by a line on a bearing of 111° 11'.

  6. That the next twenty-eight persons named in the
    said list, that is Nos. 11 to 38 inclusive, being members
    of the Ngatituranga hapu, shall receive their un-
    divided shares, equal in the aggregate to ths of the
    said area of 10,997 acres, in that portion of the block
    lying next to the south of the portion allotted as
    above to the Ngatiteau hapu, and that such portion
    shall be bounded on the South by a line on a bearing
    of 111° 11'.

  7. That the next eighteen persons named in the said
    list, namely, Nos. 39 to 56 inclusive, being also a sec-
    tion of the Ngatituranga hapu, shall receive their un-
    divided shares, equal in the aggregate to ths of the
    said area of 10,997 acres, in that portion of the block
    lying next to the south of the part last above-
    described, and that such portion shall be bounded on
    the South by a line on a bearing of 111° 11'.

  8. That the next sixteen persons named in the said
    list, namely, Nos. 57 to 72 inclusive, being members
    of the Ngatirakau hapu, shall receive their undivided
    shares, equal in the aggregate to ths of the said
    area of 10,997 acres, in that portion of the block
    lying next to the south of the portion last above
    described, and that such portion shall be bounded on
    the South by a line on a bearing of 111° 11'.

  9. And that the last fifteen persons named in the
    said list, namely, Nos. 73 to 87 inclusive, being also
    members of a section of the Ngatirakau hapu, shall
    receive their undivided shares, equal in the aggregate
    to ths of the said area of 10,997 acres, in that part
    of the block lying next to the south of the portion
    last above described, and extending to the southern
    boundary of the block, as described in the First
    Schedule to "The Himatangi Crown Grants Act,
    1877."
