A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the lands described in the First Sche-
dule hereto are required to be taken under the
provisions of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and
"The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1878," for certain works, to wit, the reclamation of
a portion of the Lyttelton Harbour, at Dampier's
Bay, and the construction of a graving dock therein:
And whereas the Lyttelton Harbour Board has
laid before the Governor the memorial and map men-
tioned in and signed and certified as required by the
said Acts:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, in exercise and pursuance
of the powers and authorities in me vested by sections
twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-four,
and twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
and by section twenty-eight of "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and of any other
power and authority enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described
in the First Schedule hereto are hereby taken for
the purposes of harbour works; and that, from and
after the fifteenth day of July, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty, the lands so described shall
become absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her
Majesty, discharged from all mortgages, charges,
claims, estates, and interests of what kind soever, to
be used for harbour works.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
Lot 2. All that parcel of land containing 1 rood 19
perches, more or less, bounded as follows: Com-
mencing at a point on the north-western boundary
of Lyttelton Town Section No. 313, the said point
being distant 94 links south-westerly from the
northernmost corner of the said section; thence
south-westerly by a line bearing 216° 24', 525
links; thence westerly by a line bearing 259° 7',
180 links; thence easterly and north-easterly along
the base of the cliffs at high-water mark to the point
thereon nearest to the south-western corner of the
said Section No. 313; thence northerly by a straight
line drawn to the said south-western corner of Section
No. 313; and from thence returning north-easterly
along the north-western boundary of the said section
to the commencing point, numbered 2 on the plan,
and therein coloured red.
Lot 4. All that parcel of land containing 14 perches,
more or less, bounded as follows: Commencing at
the westernmost extremity of the parcel of land
described as Lot 3 in the Second Schedule hereto;
thence westerly by a line bearing 259° 7', 325 links;
and from thence returning south-easterly and north-
easterly along high-water mark to the commencing
point, numbered 4 on the plan, and therein coloured
red.
Lot 6. All that parcel of land containing 3.7 perches,
more or less, bounded as follows: Commencing at
the westernmost extremity of the parcel of land
described as Lot 5 in the Second Schedule hereto;
thence westerly by a line bearing 259° 7', 66 links;
and from thence returning south-easterly and north-
easterly along high-water mark to the commencing
point, numbered 6 on the plan, and therein coloured
red.
Lot 8. All that parcel of land containing 10 perches,
more or less, bounded as follows: Commencing at
the westernmost extremity of the parcel of land
described as Lot 7 in the Second Schedule hereto;
thence westerly by a line bearing 259° 7', 80 links;
thence south-westerly by a line bearing 208° 31', 136
links; and from thence returning north-easterly
along high-water mark to the commencing point,
numbered 8 on the plan, and therein coloured red.
Lot 10. All that parcel of land containing 10.8
perches, more or less, bounded as follows: Com-
mencing at the south-westernmost extremity of the
parcel of land described as Lot 9 in the Second
Schedule hereto; thence south-westerly by a line
bearing 208° 31', 330 links; and from thence return-
ing north-easterly along high-water mark to the
commencing point, numbered 10 on the plan, and
therein coloured red.
Lot 12. All that parcel of land containing 2 acres
and 2 perches, more or less. Bounded as follows:
Commencing at the south-eastern corner of Lyttel-
ton Town Section No. 234; thence southerly and
south-westerly along Section No. 233 and Section
No. 232 to the southernmost corner of the latter
section; thence north-westerly along the last-men-
tioned section and Section No. 231 to the western-
most corner of the latter section; thence south-
westerly by a line in continuation of the north-
western boundary of the last-mentioned section, 142
links; thence north-easterly at an angle of 45° 55',
60 links; thence south-easterly by a line parallel to
the south-western boundary of the said Sections Nos
