tions made under that Act for the granting of leases
for gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that
it is intended to grant leases of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicants specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such leases.
Objections to the granting of such leases, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden at Dunedin on or before
the 5th day of August, 1880.
Copy of the applications made and plans annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Dunedin.
SCHEDULE.
APPLICANT: John Empen. Style under which it is
intended to conduct the business: "Victoria Ex-
tended Quartz-Mining Company." 16 acres, at
Mount Hyde, Block IV., in the Hindon Mining
District.
Applicant: John Empen and others. Style under
which it is intended to conduct the business: "The
Energetic Quartz-Mining Company." 6 acres, at
Mount Hyde, Block IV., in the Hindon Mining
District.

twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand

Reserve in the Island of Waiheke for Sale by Auction.

NOTICE is hereby given that the reserve made for
public purposes in the Island of Waiheke, and
Parish of Waiheke, and known as Allotment 66, con-
taining 20 acres, has been withdrawn from such re-
servation; and that the said allotment will be offered
for sale by public auction, at this office, at 12 o'clock
noon, on Monday, the 20th day of September next, at
an upset price of £20.

Description of Land. - Back portion broken, covered
with fern and tutu, frontage to creek flat, partially
grassed. Waikakariki Stream forms a good cattle
fence; soil very good.
NOTE.-Plans may be seen, and further particulars
of the land obtained, on application at this office, and
at the Survey Office, Gisborne.
Terms of Sale: One-fourth of purchase-money to
be paid at time of sale, and the balance within one
month thereafter, otherwise the part of the purchase-
money paid by way of deposit shall be forfeited, and
the contract for the sale of the land shall henceforth
be null and void.
Crown-grant fee to be paid on completion of pur-
chase.
