Defining Limits of Whangarei Township Highway
District for the Purposes of the Auckland Muni-
cipal Police Acts.

HERCULES ROBINSON, Governor.

WHEREAS by Acts of the Provincial Council of
the Province of Auckland intituled "The
Auckland Municipal Police Act, 1866," and "The
Municipal Police Act 1866 Amendment Act, 1871,"
it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Superin-
tendent may from time to time, by public notification
in the Provincial Government Gazette, appoint and
define the limits of cities, towns, and other places within
the Province of Auckland for the purposes of the said
Acts: And it is also enacted that the Superintendent
may from time to time, by public notification in the
Provincial Government Gazette, appoint such person
or public body, as he shall think fit, to be the local
authority thereinafter referred to for any city, town,
or other placeto which those Acts should be applicable,
and may alter and revoke such appointment:

And whereas the powers vested in the Superinten-
dent by the said Act are now, by the operation of
"The Abolition of Provinces, 1875," vested in the
Governor:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me by
the said Acts, do by this notification appoint and
define the limits of the Whangarei Township Highway
District, as such limits are set forth in the Schedule
hereto for the purpose of "The Auckland Municipal
Police Act, 1866," and do hereby declare that, from
and after the date hereof, the said Act shall apply to
the said Whangarei Township Highway District, so
defined as aforesaid.

And, in further pursuance and exercise of the said
powers, I do hereby name the day of the date hereof
as the day on and from which sections two, three,
four, and five of the said "Municipal Police Act
1866 Amendment Act, 1871," shall come into force
within the limits of the said Whangarei Township
Highway District; and I do hereby give notice that
I hereby appoint the District Board of the said
Whangarei Township Highway District to be the local
authority for the purposes of the said Act.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that block of land commencing at the northern-
most angle of Dr. Perston's land, known as Rahi.
Bounded towards the North-west by the north-
western boundary of Dr. Perston's land aforesaid,
from the place last-named to the western boundary
of Mr. Hunt's land, known as Wycombe; thence
northerly by the said western boundary to the
northern boundary of Mr. Hunt's land aforesaid,
thence by part of the northern boundary of Mr.
Hunt's land aforesaid to the Waiarohia River, and
thence by the Waiarohia River aforesaid to the
centre of the road which forms the south-western
boundary of the subdivision into allotments of the
land known as the Rev. Mr. Gorrie's land; towards
the North by the centre of the said road continued
through the subdivision aforesaid to the Bay of
Islands Road, and crossing the Bay of Islands Road
aforesaid to the eastern side of the road known as the
Mill Road; thence northerly by the eastern side of
the Mill Road aforesaid to the northern side of the
road leading to the upper landing-place, and by the
northern side of said road, and by the northern side
of the landing-place aforesaid produced, to the
eastern bank of the Whangarei River; towards the
East by high-water mark on the eastern bank of the
Whangarei River aforesaid, from the place last-
named to a point on the same at a distance of 10
chains to the eastward of the south-western angle of
Allotment No. 1 of the Parish of Parahaki; thence
by a right line crossing the Whangarei River afore-
said to the river termination of the easternmost
boundary of Dr. Perston's land aforesaid, and by
said eastern boundary to the southern boundary of
Dr. Perston's land aforesaid; towards the South and
South-west by the southern and south-western boun-
daries of Dr. Perston's land aforesaid to its western-
most angle, the point of commencement: as the same
is delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey
Office, Auckland.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this seventh day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and eighty.

Exchange of Land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury.

HERCULES ROBINSON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-eighth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," power is
given to the Governor to exchange any land set apart
as a reserve for other land of equal value as he may
think fit, and to make a Crown grant thereof accord-
ingly:

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the said Act, do hereby declare that
the land mentioned in the first column of the Schedule
hereto shall be exchanged for the land mentioned in
the second column of the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Reserve Intended to be Exchanged. Description of Land to be Obtained in Exchange therefor.
Section No. 1066 (in red), 5 acres, more or less, in the Timaru District, Provincial District of Canterbury. For a gravel-pit. All that parcel of land in the Geraldine Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 5 acres, more or less, being part of Section No. 20973. Bounded— South-westward by Reserve 1066 (in red); North-westward by a road- line, 1018 links; North-eastward by the River Haehae te Moana; and South-eastward by a line parallel to the north-west boundary and 492 links distant therefrom.
Section No. 1585 (in red), 10 acres, more or less, in the Timaru District, Provincial District of Canterbury. For a gravel-pit; of which it is intended to exchange 6 acres. Bounded— Westward by Section No. 2195, 1373 links; Southward by a line at an angle of 109° 17′ with the western boundary, 932 links; and North- eastward and North- westward by road-lines, 1891 links and 47 links respectively. All that parcel of land in the Geraldine Survey District, Provincial District of Canterbury, containing 4 acres, more or less, being part of Section No. 19377. Bounded— South-westward by Section No. 16790, 667 links; North-westward by a road- line, 600 links; and North-eastward and South-eastward by lines parallel to the south-west and north-west boundaries respectively. Also all that parcel of land in the same survey district, containing 2 acres, more or less, being part of Section No. 21256. Bounded— North-eastward by a road-line, 425 links; South-eastward by a road-line, 415 links; South-westward by a line parallel to the north-east boundary, 576 links; and North-westward by a line at right angles to the north-east boundary, 400 links.

thousand eight hundred and eighty.
