Extending Boundaries of Borough of Gladstone.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the twenty-fifth section of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation, incorporate into a borough any district adjacent thereto not being part of an existing borough, subject to certain conditions therein particularly specified: And whereas the Governor did, on the fifth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty, cause a notice setting forth the boundaries of the district described in the Schedule hereto to be published in the Borough of Gladstone and in the said district that it was proposed to incorporate into the aforesaid borough the said district: And whereas no petition has been presented to the Governor, as by the said Act is provided, praying that such district or part thereof should not be incorporated into the said borough:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said “Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” and of every other power and authority in that behalf me enabling, do hereby proclaim and declare that the districts the boundaries whereof are specified in the Schedule hereto are hereby incorporated into the Borough of Gladstone.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that piece of land in the Southland Division of the Provincial District of Otago, comprising 55 acres 1 rood, more or less, being Section No. 30, Block I., Invercargill Hundred, and road-line along western and northern boundaries, said area being bounded as follows, viz.: Towards the North by the Waihopai River; towards the East by the North Road, 2350 links; towards the South by Section No. 29 of said block, also by road-line along estuary, 3000 links; and towards the West by the Waihopai Estuary.

Also all that other piece of land, being Sections Nos. 23, 24, and part of 26 of said block, comprising 100 acres 2 roods 19 perches, more or less, and bounded as follows, viz.: Commencing at the north-western angle of said Section No. 24; thence by a line running 1630 links, bearing due east; thence by a line running 2450 links, bearing due north; thence by a line running 2475 links, bearing due east, being the continuation of the northern side of Albert Street, Gladstone; thence by a line running 3424 links, bearing due south; thence by a line running 4105 links, bearing due west; thence by a line running 974 links, bearing due north, to starting point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued under the Seal of the said Colony, at the Government House at Wellington, this seventeenth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty.

Appointing Day for Election of a Member for the Glenledi Road District, County of Bruce.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section ten of “The Otago Roads Ordinance 1871 Amendment Ordinance, 1874,” it is enacted that, if from any cause whatever the persons entitled to vote at any election for any subdivision of any district shall fail or neglect to hold an election of members of the District Board of such district on the day appointed by the said Ordinance for that purpose, it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by Proclamation in the Gazette, to appoint a day for the holding of such election: And whereas the powers and authorities vested in the Superintendent by the said section are, by “The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875,” now vested in the Governor: And whereas the persons entitled to vote in the election of members for the Akatore Subdivision of the Glenledi Road District failed on the day appointed by “The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871,” to hold an election:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Ordinance and Act, do

ERRATA.—In New Zealand Gazette No. 57, of the 29th May, 1880, page 828, for “Davidson, John Hawdon,” read “Davison, John Hawdon.” In Gazette No. 61, of the 10th June, 1880, page 869, appointment of Crown Lands Ranger, for “Benjamin Penie Bayly,” read “Benjamin Peddie Bayly.”
