NOTICE is hereby given that Messrs. SIEVWRIGHT
and STOUT, Solicitors, of Wellington, in the
Colony of New Zealand, have applied, on behalf
of THOMAS WHITELOCK KEMPTHORNE and EVAN
PROSSER, of Dunedin, in the said colony, Sauce
Manufacturers, to register under "The Trade Marks
Act, 1866," the trade mark of which the following is
a description, viz. :-
Description of Trade Mark.
The printed words "The" in the left and "Colo-
nial" in the right corner; underneath which are the
words "Worcestershire Sauce," printed in large
capitals, and underneath that the words "And Popular
Appetizer," beneath which, enclosed in brackets, the
words "Trade Mark," under which is a landscape
with a calf lying, a sheep, a fish on a rod, and a
pheasant in the foreground, with the words "From
the Receipt of" at one end of the landscape, and the
words "An Old Manufacturer" at the other end, and
underneath, the words "Registered June, 1880."
Then follows: "This celebrated Sauce is skilfully
manufactured from the finest ingredients; it has a
very agreeable and pleasant flavour; it assists digestion,
gives a zest to and increases the appetite, and its use
can be confidently recommended at every meal. To
the artistes of the cuisine it is an indispensable boon."
Then follows, in larger type, "Used with Steaks,
Cutlets, Chops, Hot and Cold Meat, Curries, Fish,
Soups, Salads, Cheese, &c." Then, "N.B.—See that
you get the Colonial Worcestershire Sauce;" and
then, "Sold by all Merchants and Storekeepers
throughout the Colonies, and Manufactured only by
"Carew and Co.,
"Dunedin, N.Z."
All on a red label edged with black lines.
Nature of the Article to which it is intended such
Trade Mark shall apply.
