boundaries of the subdivisions shall be set forth:
And whereas by virtue of "The Abolition of Pro-
vinces Act, 1875," the powers, duties, and functions
by the said Ordinance vested in the Superintendent
are now vested in the Governor: And whereas on
the thirtieth day of March, one thousand eight
hundred and eighty, a petition from the Board of the
Avon Road District was received by the Governor
praying that such district should be divided into the
five separate subdivisions described in the Schedule
hereto:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in exercise and pursuance of the powers and autho-
rities vested in me by the said in part recited
Ordinance and Act, do hereby divide the Avon Road
District into the five subdivisions described in the
First Schedule hereto, and do assign unto such sub-
divisions the respective names set opposite to such
subdivisions in the Second Schedule hereto, and do
declare that the boundaries of such subdivisions shall
be those specified in the said First Schedule.

And I do further proclaim and declare that the
number of members to be elected for each of such
subdivisions shall be the number set opposite each
subdivision in the said Second Schedule, and do
severally assign the members of the Road Board of
the said district now in office to the said subdivisions
in the manner set forth in the said Second Schedule.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

WARD NO. 1.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, bounded towards the North-west by the
northern side of the road to the south of Section 151
to Section 307, thence by the south-west boundary-
line of Section 307 to its most westerly corner, thence
by a road-line to the north of said section, thence
by a road-line on the north-east side of that section;
towards the North-east by Sections 1048, 324, 324,
and Section 252 to its south-west corner, thence by
a right line to the north-east corner of Section 206,
thence by a road-line to the east of that section; and
towards the South and West by the boundary-lines
of the Avon Road District, as described in Canter-
bury Roads Ordinance, 1872.

WARD NO. 2.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, bounded towards the North from the
north-east corner of Section 313 by a road-line to
the north of Sections 1147, 1192, and 1119; towards
the East by a creek forming the eastern boundary of
Sections 1119, 1118, and 1021, and by a road-line
forming the eastern boundary of Sections 2256 and
2795, thence by a road-line south-east of Section
345 to a point opposite the north-east boundary of
Section 217 produced, thence by a road and by
Sections 573, 367c, and 219 to the north-west corner
of Section 263, thence by a road-line to north and
east of that section to boundary-line of district
before mentioned; towards the South by that boun-
dary-line; and towards the West by Ward No. 1
before described to a point on north-east boundary
of Section 307 at which the south-eastern boundary
of Section 308 produced intersects that boundary,
thence to and by that south-east boundary and Sec-
tions 312 and 313 to starting point.

WARD NO. 3.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, bounded towards the North from the
south-eastern corner of Section 1021 by a creek
forming the northern boundary of Sections 1135 and
1140, across that creek and by a road-line north of
Section 1140, by a road-line to the north of Sections
2550 and 1327, by a road-line, by Sections 1053 and
1132, by a road-line to the most northerly corner of
Section 1068, thence by a road-line north-east of that
section to boundary of district before mentioned;
towards the South by boundary-lines of said district;
and towards the West by Ward No. 2, before
described.

WARD NO. 4.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, bounded towards the North-west and
North by Waimakariri River, from the western
corner of Section 5620 to its outlet; towards the
South-east by the Purarekanui Creek to Section 295,
across that creek to the eastern corner of that sec-
tion, by a road-line south-west of Sections 295, 294,
and 285, by a road-line to the south-east of Section
1141, by a road-line east of Section 1134, and by
Dudley's Creek to the north-east corner of Section
1119, and by Wards No. 2 and 1 before described to
boundary of district before mentioned; and towards
the West by that boundary-line to starting point.

WARD NO. 5.
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, bounded towards the South and
West from a point on boundary of district near the
eastern corner of Section 1068, by Wards Nos. 3, 2,
and 4, before described; towards the East by the
Waimakariri River and the ocean; and again towards
the West and South by the River Avon, the boundary
of the district before mentioned: as these several
wards are delineated on the plan deposited in the
District Survey Office, Christchurch.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
No. 1 Ward, one member; John Leaf Wilson.
No. 2 Ward, one member; William Moor.
No. 3 Ward, one member; William Flesher.
No. 4 Ward, one member; Albert Miles Philpott.
No. 5 Ward, one member; John Bligh.

Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
tenth day of June, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty.

Land set apart on Deferred Payments in Auckland.

A PROCLAMATION.

W
HEREAS by the fifty-third section of "The
Land Act, 1877," it is enacted that the
Governor, by Proclamation in the Gazette, may from
time to time set apart out of any suburban or rural
lands such blocks or allotments of land as he shall
think fit, and set the same aside for sale on deferred
payments, and in such Proclamation may fix a day
on which the land shall be open for application; and
that he may also in like manner set apart for sale on
deferred payments such blocks or allotments as may
be recommended by any Land Board, and may also
from time to time alter, amend, or revoke any such
Proclamation:

And whereas the Land Board of Auckland did, on
the first day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and eighty, pass a resolution recommending that the
