And whereas the said reserve is for one of the pur-
poses named in Part I. of the Schedule to "The
Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," and, in
the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to
change the purpose of such reserve referred to in
the Schedule hereto to another of the purposes named
in the said Part I., as hereinafter mentioned:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said
colony, and in exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the sixth section of "The Public
Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," doth hereby
order and direct that the purpose of the reserve
mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto
shall be changed from that of a reserve for a canal,
and doth hereby declare and define the purpose of the
said reserve to be those specified in the second
column of the said Schedule, the same being one of
the purposes named in Part I. of the Schedule to
the said Act.

Description and Purpose of Reserve.

All that parcel of land in the Christ-
church Survey District, Provincial District
of Canterbury, containing 39 acres, more
or less. Bounded-Northward by the
River Purarekanui; Southward by Dudley's
Creek; Eastward by freehold Section No.
1778 and others; and Westward by Sec-
tion No. 6440 and others; and numbered
58 (in red) on the official map in the
Survey Office, Christchurch: For a canal
between the Avon and Purarekanui.

Intended Purpose.
Public highway.

SCHEDULE.

Area of which the Purpose is intended to be
Changed.

All that parcel of land in the Christchurch
Survey District, Provincial District of Canter-
bury, containing 6 acres 3 roods 18 perches,
more or less. Bounded-Southward by the
road north of Section 5269 and others;
Northward by a line parallel to and 50 links
distant therefrom; North-westward by a line
200 links in length, drawn from a point on
the last-mentioned boundary in line with the
south-west boundary of Section 3005 to a
point on the southern boundary above-men-
tioned; and Eastward by the creek running
through Section 383 to the River Heathcote:
and numbered 2468 (in red) on the official
map in the Survey Office, Christchurch.
Also all that parcel of land in the same
Survey District, containing 21 acres 3 roods 26
perches, more or less. Bounded-Northward
by the northern boundary of Reserve No. 57
(in red); Southward by the southern boundary
thereof, and by Reserve 2468 (in red); East-
ward by the creek running through Section 383
to the River Heathcote; and Westward by
the Lincoln Road: excepting thereout the road
eastward of Section 382, and also the road
eastward of Section 741: and numbered 2469
(in red) on the official map in the Survey
Office, Christchurch.

Appointing Trustees under "The Maori Real Estate Management Act Amendment Act, 1877."

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this
eighth day of June, 1880.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by "The Maori Real Estate Management Act, 1867" (hereinafter called the said Act"), it
is enacted that, if any title to or interest in any hereditaments shall accrue to any Maoris, who or
any of whom shall be infants, lunatics, or under legal disability, it shall be lawful for the Governor in
Council, if he think fit, to order that such hereditaments, or any part thereof or interest therein, as shall to
the Governor in Council be shown to belong to such infant, or lunatic, or other person under legal disability,
shall be vested in trustees, as the Governor in Council shall think fit:

And whereas by "The Maori Real Estate Management Act Amendment Act, 1877," it is provided
that, in all cases in which no trustee of such estate of any infant Maori prior to the passing of the said
Act has been appointed, the Governor may appoint such trustee only on the recommendation of a Judge of
the Native Land Court:

And whereas by orders bearing dates as contained in the first column of the Schedule hereto, made by
the Judges named in the second column thereof, the persons named in the third column were recommended
