A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by "The
(Canterbury) Dog Nuisance Ordinance, Session
XVII., No. 3," "The (Canterbury) Dog Nuisance
Amendment, Ordinance, 1862," and "The Abolition
of Provinces Act, 1875," I, Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zea-
land, do hereby appoint the persons whose names
appear in the first column of the Schedule hereto to
be the persons to register dogs for the places set
opposite their names respectively in the second
column of the said Schedule; and I do further
appoint the places mentioned in the third column of
the said Schedule to be the offices at which persons
shall register their dogs.

Redefining Districts under "The Licensing
Act, 1873."

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Licensing Act, 1873," it
is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor shall, as soon as conveniently may be
after the passing of the said Act, by Proclamation in
the Government Gazette, define such territorial divi-
sions as he may think proper to be licensing districts
for the purposes of the said Act, and from time to
time may alter and redefine the boundaries of the
same:

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-third day of February, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-four, the Districts of Whangarei
Heads, Whangarei, and Mangapai were, amongst
others, constituted under the said "Licensing Act,
1873:" And whereas by a Proclamation bearing
date the twentieth day of November, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-six, the District of Bay
of Islands was constituted under the said "Licensing
Act, 1873:" And whereas it is expedient to abolish
the said Districts of Whangarei Heads and Mangapai,
and to alter and redefine the boundaries of the said
Districts of Whangarei and Bay of Islands:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
pursuance of the provisions of the hereinbefore
recited Act, and of every power and authority
enabling me in this behalf, hereby abolish
the said Districts of Whangarei Heads and Mangapai,
and do hereby alter and redefine the boundaries of
the said Districts of Whangarei and Bay of Islands,
as the same are set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

WHANGAREI DISTRICT.

ALL that parcel of land in the Colony of New Zea-
land, bounded towards the North-west by a right line
from the most easterly peak of the Tutamoe Range
to the north-west corner of Opuawhanga No. 4 Block;
thence by lines forming the north-western boundaries
of said block to the sea at Helena Bay; thence
towards the East by the sea to the north head of the
Ruakaka River; thence towards the South-east by a
right line to the south-eastern angle of the Parish of
Mangapai, and thence by lines forming the south-
eastern boundaries of the said parish; towards the
South-west by lines forming the south-western
boundaries of the said parish; again towards the East,
South, and South-west by lines forming the east, south,
and south-western boundaries of the Parish of Ruarangi
to the Tauraroa River; and thence by that river to the
western boundary of the Parish of Maungakaramea;
thence towards the West by lines forming the western
boundaries of the said parish to the Waionepu River;
again towards the South-west by a right line from
thence to the confluence of the Mangakahia River
with the Wairoa River; thence towards the North-
west by the Wairua River to the confluence of the
Maungaharuru River; thence again towards the
South by a right line to the most easterly peak of
the Tutamoe Range, the starting point..

BAY OF ISLANDS DISTRICT.

All that parcel of land in the Colony of New Zea-
land, bounded towards the North by the Mongonui,
Totara, Kaco, and Whangaroa Highway Districts,
from Raetea to the mouth of the Takou River;
thence towards the East by the sea to Helena Bay;
towards the South-east by the Opuawhanga No. 4
Block, and a right line from the north-west corner of
the said block to the most easterly peak of the Tutamoe
Range; thence towards the West by a right line to
the south-western point of the Omapere Lake; thence
