Defining the Middle Line of Portion of Branch Line
of Railway from Otautau to Nightcaps (Western
Railways), Waicola Section.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the branch line of railway from
Otautau to Nightcaps (Western Railways) is
one of the railways specified in the First Schedule to
"The Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is
therein declared to be a special Act authorizing the
construction of such railway, and the same is un-
finished, and it has been determined to construct and
maintain a further portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authori-
ties conferred on me by sections one hundred and
twenty-two, one hundred and twenty-three, one
hundred and twenty-four, and one hundred and
twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," and
in exercise of every other power and authority enabl-
ing me in that belief, do hereby proclaim and declare
that the middle line of the said further portion of
the said railway shall be from a point on Section
eleven, Aparima Hundred, to a point in deferred-
payment reserve, the said point distant about
one hundred and twenty chains in a northerly
direction from Trig. Station F; all within the
Provincial District of Otago. The said middle
line and the land through which the same passes are
set forth in the map and plan marked P.W.D. 7730,
and authenticated for the purposes of this Proclama-
tion by the signature of the Honorable Richard
Oliver, Minister for Public Works, and which said
map and plan is deposited in the office of the Regis-
trar of the Supreme Court at Invercargill, in the
Provincial District of Otago.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point on Section No. 11, Aparima
Hundred, in the Provincial District of Otago, Colony
of New Zealand, said point being the point of ter-
mination of the Opio Section of the Otautau to
Nightcaps Railway, as described in the Proclamation
dated the 30th May, 1879, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 60, of the 5th June,
1879; proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly
direction for a distance of 7 miles 60 chains or there-
abouts, and passing in, through, over, or into the
following territorial divisions, viz.: The said Aparima
Hundred, Sections 11 and 15; Wairio District-
Deferred-payment reserve, Sections numbered re-
spectively 52, 50, 48, and 5, and a deferred-payment
reserve; and all intervening places, lands, reserves,
streams, and watercourses; and terminating at a
point in the last above-mentioned deferred-payment
reserve; the point of termination being distant about
120 chains in a northerly direction from Trig. Station
F; in the manner delineated on a plan marked
P.W.D. 7730, which plan is signed by the Honourable
Richard Oliver, Minister for Public Works, and
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Invercargill, Provincial District of
Otago.

George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-sixth day of May, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and eighty.
