NOTICE is hereby given, under section ten of
"The Sheep Act, 1878," that the Governor has
been pleased to determine that all that tract of land
comprised within the boundaries of the run or runs
now in the occupation of W. A. Low, being partly
in the Amuri and partly in the Awatere Subdivisions
of the Marlborough Sheep District, shall be included
in the Amuri Subdivision of the said district.

Confirming Decision of Court of Inquiry into
Damage to p.s. "Manawatu."

Wellington, 25th May, 1880.

HIS Excellency the Governor has, in pursuance of
the provisions of section 244 of "The Shipping
and Seamen's Act, 1877," been pleased to confirm
the following decision of the Court of Inquiry into
the cause of the damage to the p.s. "Manawatu,"
which occurred on the 22nd ultimo, while the steamer
was on her way from Wanganui to Wellington.

THE salting up of the boiler was due to the negligence
or carelessness of the engineer in charge, and that, as
John Symons (holding New Zealand Certificate of
Service, No. 1034), was the only certificated engineer
on board, we decide that his certificate be suspended
for three calendar months from this date.

Given under our hands this twenty-ninth day
of April, one thousand eight hundred and
eighty, at Wellington, New Zealand.

Notice to Mariners.—No. 20 of 1880.

THE following Notices to Mariners, received from
the Superintendent of Marine Surveys of India,
are published for general information.

INDIA—BAY OF BENGAL.—ENTRANCE TO RIVER
HOOGHLY.—EXTENSION OF PERIOD OF EXHIBITION
OF "INTERMEDIATE" LIGHT.

WITH reference to Notice to Mariners, No. 11,
issued from this department the 7th July, 1877, notice
is hereby given that the "intermediate" light-vessel
will be replaced in position on the 1st April, 1880,
but will remain at her station until the 30th Novem-
ber next, instead of the 31st October as heretofore.
During the year 1881, and in all future years, until
further notice, the light-vessel will be kept at her
station, and the light exhibited, from the 1st February
to the 30th November inclusive.

CHINA SEA.—SINGAPORE.—ALTERATIONS IN FORT
CANNING LIGHT.

THE Government of the Straits Settlement has given
notice that the following alterations have been made
in the position and visibility of the light exhibited
from Fort Canning, Singapore :—

The light (fixed white) is shown from a new
flagstaff situated 20 yards southward of the old staff.
It is visible through an arc of nearly 68°, between
the bearings N.N.W. 4 W. and W. S., or from
one mile eastward of Peak Island to one mile south-
ward of Johore Shoal.

The light is elevated 256 feet above the sea, and
should be seen in clear weather from a distance of
twenty miles.

The bearings are magnetic and from seaward.
Variation 1° easterly in 1880.
