Notice of Petition for certain Land to be added to
the Borough of Thames.
Colonial Secretary's Office,
Wellington, 17th December, 1880.
HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to be
notified that, unless within two months after
the publication of this notice a petition is presented
to His Excellency signed by not less than one-third
of the burgesses of the Borough of Thames, or a
petition signed by at least ninety-five of the resident
householders in the district proposed to be added to
the aforesaid borough, praying that such district
may not be incorporated into the said borough, His
Excellency will, by Proclamation, incorporate into
the said borough the said district, such district
when so added to form a separate ward of the said
borough.
The boundaries of the district proposed to be in-
corporated are as follow:-
All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Auckland, bounded towards the West and North
by the middle of the Hape Creek, from its confluence
with the Kauaeranga River to the northern boundary
of the Shortland Township Reserve; thence again
towards the North by lines along the northern
boundary of said reserve to the Church Mission
land; thence by lines along the northern boundary
of said land to the Waikeikei Creek; thence towards
the East by the said creek to the Gold Field
boundary; thence again towards the North by said
Gold Field boundary to a point on said boundary
about 32 chains (measured along said boundary)
from the right bank of the said Kauaeranga River;
thence again towards the East by a right line drawn
at right angles to said boundary to said Kauaeranga
River; and thence towards the South by the said
river to the Hape Creek, the starting point.
