Foxton Highway District, County of Manawatu,
constituted.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section seven of an Ordinance of
the Province of Wellington intituled "The
Highways Act, 1874," it is enacted that the Super-
intendent may from time to time, to subdivide,
alter, or reunite: And whereas the powers, duties,
and functions vested in the Superintendent by the
said Ordinance are, by "The Abolition of Provinces
Act, 1875," now vested in the Governor: And
whereas all things have happened and been performed
to entitle the Governor to issue this Proclamation:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Justice
of the Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator of
the Government thereof, in exercise and pursuance
of the powers and authorities vested in me by the
said recited Ordinance and Act, do hereby proclaim and
declare that, from and after the date hereof, the por-
tion of the Manawatu Highway District defined in the
First Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby
separated from the said district, and constituted into
a new highway district, by the name of the "Foxton
Highway District;" and such district shall have the
boundaries set forth in the said First Schedule:
And, in further exercise of the powers and authori-
ties aforesaid, I do hereby divide the said Foxton
Highway District into five wards, the names and
boundaries whereof are set forth in the Second
Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Welling-
ton, bounded towards the North by a right line from
a point on the sea-coast where the production of the
northern boundary-line of Section No. 321, Te Kawau Survey District, intersects high-
water mark, to the north-western corner of said
section; thence by a road-line forming the northern
boundary line of Sections Nos. 321, 322, and 323 of
said Block XIII., and a railway reserve in Block
XIV.; thence by the railway-line to the Oroua
River; towards the East by that river and the Mana-
watu River; towards the West by the Manawatu
River; and towards the West by the ocean to start-
ing point: excepting therefrom the Foxton Local
Board District, as described in the Wellington Pro-
vincial Gazette No. 23, of 1878: as the same is
delineated on the plan deposited in the District Sur-
vey Office, Wellington.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

WARD No. 1.

BOUNDED towards the North by the Sandon and Car-
narvon Highway District; towards the East by Sec-
tion No. 334, Block XV., Te Kawau Survey District;
thence by a right line from its south-eastern angle
to the north-western angle of Section No. 452,
Block VI., Mount Robinson Survey District; thence,
by that section, a road, by Sections Nos. 460 and 447
of said block, to the middle of the Motoa Road;
thence towards the South by the middle of said road
to the Foxton Local District; thence towards the
West, again towards the South and East, by the said
Foxton Local District to the Manawatu River; again
towards the South by the Manawatu River; and
again towards the West by the sea to the Sandon
and Carnarvon Highway District.

WARD No. 2.

BOUNDED towards the North by the Sandon and
Carnarvon Highway District; towards the East by
the Oroua and Manawatu Rivers to the middle of
the Motoa Road, fronting Section No. 51, Block VII.,
Mount Robinson Survey District; thence towards
the South by the middle of the said road to Ward
No. 1, hereinbefore described; and thence towards
the West by the said Ward No. 1.

WARD No. 3.

BOUNDED towards the North by the Foxton Local
District and Ward No. 1, hereinbefore described;
towards the East by Sections Nos. 232, 376, a road,
Sections Nos. 388, 418, a road, Section No. 433, a
road, and Section No. 533, Block V., Mount Robin-
son Survey District, to the Manawatu River; thence
towards the South and West by the said Manawatu
River.

WARD No. 4.

BOUNDED towards the North by Wards Nos. 1 and
2, hereinbefore described; towards the East by Sec-
tion No. 52, Block VII., Mount Robinson Survey
District; thence by a right line to the nearest point
of the main drain running south through Section
No. 555, Block VII.; thence by that drain to the
Manawatu River at Karikari; and thence towards
the South by the said Manawatu River; and towards
the West by the Ward No. 3, hereinbefore described.

WARD No. 5.

Comprises the remaining portion of the district
not included in the above wards.

Given under the hand of His Excellency James
Prendergast, Esquire, Chief Justice, the
Administrator of the Government of Her
Majesty's Colony of New Zealand; and
issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington,
this seventeenth day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and eighty.

Manawatu Highway District, County of Manawatu,
constituted.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Province of
Wellington intituled "The Highways Act,
1874," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Superintendent from time to time, by Proclamation
in the Government Gazette, to divide any district or
districts into two or more new districts, and the
same in like manner from time to time to subdivide,
alter, or reunite:

And whereas the powers, duties, and functions
vested in the Superintendent by the said Ordinance
are, by "The Abolition of Provinces Act, 1875," now
vested in the Governor:

And whereas by a Proclamation dated the thirty-
first day of August, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight, the Manawatu Highway District was
constituted with the boundaries described in the
Schedule to the said Proclamation:

And whereas by Proclamations of even date here-
with, but issued immediately before this Proclama-
tion, the Administrator of the Government did
separate the portions of the said district in the said
Proclamations described from the said district, and
did constitute the separated portions into new high-
way districts: And whereas the district comprised
