Defining the Middle Line of further portion of the
Canterbury Interior Main Line of Railway (Wai-
makariri Gorge Section).

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the Canterbury Interior Main Line
of Railway from Oxford to Temuka is one of
the railways specified in the First Schedule to "The
Public Works Act, 1879," and which Act is therein
declared to be a special Act authorizing the construc-
tion of such railway; and the same is unfinished, and
it has been determined to construct and maintain a
further portion of such railway:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Jus-
tice of the Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator
of the Government thereof, in exercise and in pur-
suance of the powers and authorities conferred on me
by sections one hundred and twenty-two, one hundred
and twenty-three, one hundred and twenty-four, and
one hundred and twenty-five of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," and in exercise of every other power and
authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby pro-
claim and declare that the middle line of the said
railway shall be from a point situate in Road Reserve one thousand and
eighty-one, in the Oxford Road District, to a point
in Road Reserve four hundred and thirteen, in the
Malvern Road District, all within the County of
Ashley, Provincial District of Canterbury, Colony of
New Zealand, as defined and set forth in the Schedule
hereto. The said middle line and the land through
which the same passes are set forth in the map and
plan marked P.W.D. 7967, and authenticated for the
purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of the
Honorable Richard Oliver, Minister for Public Works,
and which said map and plan is deposited in the office
of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Christ-
church, in the Provincial District of Canterbury.
SCHEDULE.
Commencing at a point in Road Reserve 1081, in the
Oxford Road District, County of Ashley, distant
about 10 chains in a south-westerly direction from
the northernmost corner of Rural Section 26223, the
said point being the point of termination of the
northern portion of the said railway, as described in
a Proclamation dated the 6th August, 1879, and
published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 84, of the
14th August, 1879; proceeding thence in a generally
south-westerly direction for a distance of 3 miles 76
chains or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through,
or over the following lands, &c.: Oxford Road
District, the said Road Reserve 1081, Reserve 2331,
Rural Sections 29569, Reserve 1080, and Section
3599, Malvern Road District, Rural Sections 26160,
2657, 3110, Road Reserve 413; and terminating
at a point in the said Reserve 413 distant about 10
chains in a south-south-westerly direction from the
northernmost corner of Rural Section 3625; all
within the Provincial District of Canterbury and
Colony of New Zealand; including all adjoining and
intervening places, lands, reserves, streams, rivers,
and watercourses; in the manner delineated on the
plan marked P.W.D. 7967, which plan is signed by
the Honorable Richard Oliver, Minister for Public
Works, and deposited in the office of the Registrar
of the Supreme Court at Christchurch, in the said
provincial district; the total length of the middle
line as above described being about 3 miles 76
chains.

issued under the Seal of the said Colony,
at the Government House, at Wellington,
this sixteenth day of November, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule
hereto is required to be taken under "The
Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public Works
Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," for a certain work,
to wit, the construction of a road in Block two,
South Molyneux Road District, County of Clutha:
And whereas the South Molyneux Road Board
has laid before the Administrator of the Government
the memorial and map mentioned in and signed and
certified as required by the said Acts:
Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, the Admin-
istrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zea-
land, by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said colony, in exercise and pursu-
ance of the powers and authorities in me vested by sec-
tions twenty-one, twenty-two, twenty-three, twenty-
four, and twenty-five of "The Public Works
Act, 1876," and by section twenty-eight of "The Public
Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," and of any
other power and authority enabling me in that behalf,
do hereby proclaim and declare that the land de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for
the purposes of a road; and that, from and after the
eighteenth day of November, one thousand eight hun-
dred and eighty, the land so described shall become
absolutely vested in fee-simple in Her Majesty, dis-
charged from all mortgages, charges, claims, estates,
and interests of what kind soever, for use as a road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 1 acre 2 roods 11 perches, more
or less, situate in the Survey District of South
Molyneux, Provincial District of Otago, being part of
Sections 8 and 9, Block II., commencing at a point
in boundary between Sections 8 and Maori reserve
distant 2480 links or thereby from south-west
corner of Section 8. Bound generally South-
westerly and north-westerly by lines, 535, 949, 228,
232, 151, 210, 629, and 422 links respectively; North-
easterly by boundary between Sections 9 and 10,
68 links or thereby; generally South-easterly and
North-easterly by lines, 46, 414, 611, 179, 131, 222, 215,
736, and 582 links respectively; South-westerly by
boundary between Section 8 and Maori reserve to
commencing point, 60 links or thereby.
Also all that piece or parcel of land containing by
admeasurement 1 acre 1 rood 4 perches, more or less,
situate in the Survey District of South Molyneux,
Provincial District of Otago, being portions of Sec-
tions 10 and 11, Block II., commencing at a point on
boundary between Sections 9 and 10 distant 1704
links or thereby from the south-west corner of Sec-
tion 10. Bounded—Generally North-westerly and
South-westerly by lines, 587, 302, 273, 595, 307, 244,
and 242 links respectively; North-easterly by boun-
dary between halves of Section 11, 56 links or thereby;
North-easterly and South-easterly by lines, 210, 225,
297, 607, 281, 348, and 585 links respectively; South-
