Changing the Purpose of a Reserve.

Administrator of the Government.

WHEREAS by "The Public Reserves Act Amend-
ment Act, 1878," it is, amongst other things,
enacted that the Governor may declare his intention
to make, change, exchange, or alter the dedication of
any public reserve now or hereafter vested in Her
Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes
named in Part II. of the Schedule to the said Act,
whether the same be granted or not; and, in the case
of any reserves made under the authority of section
one hundred and forty-four of "The Land Act, 1877,"
if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expe-
dient to change the purpose of such reserves or any
part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose
for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if
it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient
to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve
for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one
or more purposes named in the said Part II., the
Governor may, by notice in the Gazette, declare his
intention to make such change, exchange, or dedica-
tion, as the case may be, and in such notice declare
the manner and terms in which the same is intended
to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Justice
of the Colony of New Zealand, and Administrator of
the Government thereof, do hereby, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me
by "The Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878,"
aforesaid, change the specific purpose of the reserve
described in the first column of the said Schedule
hereto to the specific purpose set opposite such
description in the second column of the said Sche-
dule, and such land shall henceforth be deemed to be
reserved and set apart for such last-mentioned specific
purpose, and no other.

SCHEDULE.

Description and Purpose of Reserve.

All that piece or parcel of land in the Pro-
vincial District of Wellington, containing by
admeasurement 4 acres 1 rood 37 perches,
more or less, on the plan of the Waverley
Town Belt, Okotuku District. Bounded
towards the North by Subdivision No. 1 of
the Waverley Town Belt, 897 links; towards
the East by Rural Section No. 88, Block VII.,
Wairoa Survey District, 500 links; towards
the South by a Government reserve, 897 links;
and towards the West by a public street, 500
links. Reserve not defined.

Intended Purpose.

Site for a school.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Administrator of the Government, this
twenty-eighth day of October, one thou-
sand eight hundred and eighty.

Land temporarily reserved in the Provincial Districts
of Auckland, Wellington, Nelson, Canterbury, and
Otago.

WHER THEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted

that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which, in his opinion, are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, James Prendergast, Chief Jus-
tice of the Colony of New Zealand, and Adminis-
trator of the Government thereof, in exercise and
pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in
me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve
from sale the land in the Provincial Districts of
Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago, de-
scribed in the Schedule hereunder written, for the
purposes in the said Schedule specified.

SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND.

ALL that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 3 roods 2 perches, more or less, and
being called or known as the Taumarere Church
Reserve, in the Parish of Kawakawa, Kawakawa
Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland.
Bounded towards the East by the Manurewa South
Block, 641 links; thence towards the South-west by
a public road, 461 links; thence towards the North-
west by a road and railway-line, 352 links: be all the
aforesaid linkages more or less. For Native pur-
poses.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 5 acres 1 rood 7 perches, more or less,
and being Lot 178 in the Parish of Opaheke, Opaheke
Survey District, Provincial District of Auckland.
Bounded towards the North-east by a public road,
512 and 431 links respectively; thence towards the
South-east by a public road, 579 links; thence
towards the South-west by Lot 172, 875 links; thence
towards the North-west by the aforesaid Lot 172, 450
links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As
a site for a school.

All that piece or parcel of land containing by ad-
measurement 5 acres, more or less, and being Lot 179
in the Parish of Opaheke, Opaheke Survey District,
Provincial District of Auckland. Bounded towards
the North-east by Lot 172, 905 links; towards the
South by a public road, 692 links; towards the South-
west by Lot 248, 655 links; thence towards the
North-west by Lot 172 aforesaid, 540 links: be all
the aforesaid linkages more or less. For a cemetery.

WELLINGTON.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Wellington, being Section No. 822, Town of Pal-
merston North, and containing by admeasurement
1 acre 1 rood, more or less. Bounded towards the
North-east by Section No. 824; towards the South-
east by Section No. 823; towards the South-
west by Section No. 820; and towards the North-
west by a street: as the same is delineated on the
plan deposited in the Survey Office, Wellington. For
recreation.

NELSON.

All that parcel of land in the Provincial District
of Nelson, being Section No. 22, Block XIV., Oparara
Survey District (an island in the Karamea River
situated about 3 miles from its mouth and opposite
the Native reserve), and containing by admeasure-
ment 20 acres and 32 perches, more or less. Bounded
towards the North by a road reserve, 771 links and
623 links ; towards the East by said road reserve,
1291 links and 1049 links; towards the South and
