Dividing Knapdale Road District into Subdivisions.

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue and in exercise of the power and
authority enabling me in that behalf, conferred
upon me by "The Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871,"
section eight, and "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, Hercules George Robert Robinson, the
Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
proclaim that the Knapdale Road District, in the
County of Southland, in the said colony, shall be
divided into three separate subdivisions, named re-
spectively the Otama, Chatton, and Waikaka Sub-
divisions, the boundaries whereof are respectively set
forth in the Schedule hereto, and the said district is
hereby subdivided accordingly from the day of the
date hereof.
SCHEDULE.
OTAMA SUBDIVISION.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Southland
division of the Provincial District of Otago, being
part of Chatton and the whole of Otama Survey
Districts, and bounded as follows: By a line com-
mencing at the Mataura River and running east
along the north boundary of Section 1, Block XII.,
Chatton Survey District, to the pre-emptive right;
thence south-easterly and thereafter north-easterly
round the pre-emptive right; thence due east along
the north boundary of Section 2, Block XII., Chatton
Survey District; thence due north along the east
boundary of Block XI., Chatton Survey District, to
the Dunedin and Switzer's Road; thence westerly
along said road to the east boundary of Otama
Survey District; thence due north along said boun-
dary, and thereafter westerly along north boundary
of said survey district, to the Mataura River; thence
southerly along Mataura River to starting point.
CHATTON SUBDIVISION.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland
division of the Provincial District of Otago, being
part of Chatton Survey District, and bounded as
follows: By a line commencing at the north-west
corner of the Chatton District, and running due east
to the north-east corner of said district; thence due
south to the Dunedin and Switzer's Road; thence
along said road to the east boundary of the Otama
Survey District; thence northerly along the said
boundary to starting point.
WAIKAKA SUBDIVISION.
All that piece or parcel of land in the Southland
division of the Provincial District of Otago, being
part of Chatton and Waikaka Survey Districts, and
bounded as follows: By a line commencing at the
Mataura River, and running easterly along the north
boundary of Section 1, Block XII., Chatton Survey
District; thence south-easterly and thereafter north-
earterly round the pre-emptive right; thence due
east along the north boundary of Section 2, Block
XII., Chatton Survey District; thence due north
along the east boundary of Block XI. of said district
to the Dunedin and Switzer's Road; thence easterly
along said road to the north-east corner of Block II.,
Chatton District; thence southerly along the east
boundaries of Block II. of said district, and Block II.,
Waikaka Survey District, to the Pukerau Stream;
thence westerly along the Pukerau and Waikaka
Streams to the Mataura River; thence northerly
along the Mataura River to the starting point: as
the said subdivisions are delineated on the maps of
the Survey Office, Invercargill.

guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighth day of September, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine.

Proclaiming Waimate a Borough under "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876."

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section seventeen of "The Muni-
cipal Corporations Act, 1876," the Governor
is empowered, by Proclamation, to declare any district
in New Zealand to be a borough under the said Act
from and after a day to be named in such Proclama-
tion:
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
vested in me by the said Act, do hereby proclaim
and declare that the District of Waimate shall be
and the same is hereby constituted, as from the eighth
day of September, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-nine, a borough under the said Act; and
that the name of such borough shall be the Borough
of Waimate, and the boundaries of such borough
shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, containing by admeasurement 749
acres, more or less, situated in the Waimate Survey
District, and bounded by lines commencing at a
point at the south-western corner of Rural Section
4311; thence along the western boundary of said
section and of that of Rural Section 7494 to the
north-western corner of the last-named section;
thence along the northernmost boundary of the
last-named section to a point in line with the western-
most boundary of Rural Section 2513; thence in a
line with and along the western boundaries of Rural
Sections 2513, 2697, and 5691, and in a continuous
line to the southernmost boundary of Rural Section
6243; thence along the said boundary of Rural
Section 6243 and of Rural Section 5725 to the south-
eastern corner of the last-named section; thence
along the easternmost boundary of the last-named
section to a point in a line with the northernmost
boundary of Rural Section 5647; thence in a line
with and along the last-named boundary to the
north-eastern corner of the said section; thence
along the easternmost boundaries of Rural Sections
5647, 5611, and 2521 to the south-eastern corner of
the last-named section; thence along the southern-
most boundaries of Rural Sections 5726, 5965, and
6217 to the south-eastern corner of the last-named
section; thence at a right angle with the last-
mentioned boundaries to a point on the westernmost
bank of the Waimate Creek; and from thence
returning along the western and northern banks of
the said creek to the starting point: as the same is
delineated on the plan deposited in the Survey Office,
Christchurch.
