Defining the Middle Line of Portion of the Railway
from Wellington to a Junction with the Railway
from Napier to Sentry Hill, at a Point near the
Manawatu Gorge, passing through the Hutt,
Featherston, and Masterton, with Branches (Grey-
town Branch).

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Public Works Act 1876
Amendment Act 1878," section twenty-three,
it is enacted that the railway from Wellington
to a junction with the railway from Napier
to Sentry Hill, at a point near the Manawatu
Gorge, passing through the Hutt, Featherston, and
Masterton, with branches, is one of the railways
specified in the Fourth Schedule to "The Public
Works Act, 1876," and the same is unfinished, and
it has been determined to construct and maintain a
further portion of such railway:

Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robin-
son, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in
exercise and in pursuance of the powers and authori-
ties conferred on me by the twenty-third section
of "The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1878," and sections one hundred and twenty-two, one
hundred and twenty-three, one hundred and twenty-
four, and one hundred and twenty-five of "The Public
Works Act, 1876," and in exercise of every other power
and authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby
proclaim and declare that the middle line of the said
further portion of the said railway shall be from a
point in Section number forty-seven, Moroa Block,
to a point in a reserve, Town of Greytown, Provin-
cial District of Wellington, Colony of New Zealand,
as defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto. The
said middle line and the land through which the
same passes are set forth in the map and plan
marked P.W.D. 7143, and authenticated for the
purposes of this Proclamation by the signature of
the Honorable James Macandrew, Minister for Public
Works, and which said map and plan is deposited in
the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Wellington, Provincial District of Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point in the Moroa Block, Tiffen
Survey District, the said point being within the limits
of deviation of a portion of the railway from Welling-
ton to a junction with the railway from Napier to
Sentry Hill, as described in the Proclamation dated
the 13th day of March, 1878, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette No. 25, of the 21st March,
1878; proceeding thence in a generally northerly and
north-easterly direction for a distance of 3 miles 7
chains or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through,
or over the following lands: Sections Nos. 47, 48, 44,
50, 51, and 52; Lots 27, 18, and 15, subdivided, and
named Cotterville; and terminating at a point in a
reserve within the Town of Greytown; all within the
block and district aforesaid, Provincial District of
Wellington, Colony of New Zealand; including all
adjoining and intervening places, lands, roads,
reserves, streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the
manner delineated on the map and plan marked
P.W.D. 7143, signed by the Honorable James
Macandrew, Minister for Public Works, deposited in
the office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court at
Wellington, Provincial District of Wellington; the
total length being 3 miles 7 chains or thereabouts.

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-eighth day of July, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine.
