Sheep Districts of Nelson and Canterbury amended.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The Sheep
Act, 1878," it is enacted that the Governor,
by Proclamation, may from time to time divide the
colony into districts for the purposes of the said Act,
and may also part any district into subdivisions; and
that every such district and subdivision may from
time to time, in like manner, be altered or consti-
tuted anew, in such manner as the Governor shall
think fit:
And whereas, by Proclamation of the twenty-
fourth day of December last, the colony was divided
into districts for the purposes of the said Act, as the
same are defined in the Schedule to the said Pro-
clamation:
And whereas it is expedient to constitute anew
the Nelson District and the Canterbury District for
the purposes of the said Act and the subdivisions
thereof respectively:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the herein-
before recited Act, do hereby proclaim and declare
that so much of the aforesaid Proclamation of the
twenty-fourth day of December last passed as de-
scribes the Nelson District and the Canterbury Dis-
trict, and the subdivisions thereof, respectively, is
hereby rescinded: And I hereby proclaim and de-
clare that the Nelson District and the Canterbury
District, and the subdivisions thereof, respectively,
shall, for the purposes of the said Act, be as the
same are described in the Schedule hereto, and that
such districts and subdivisions shall be known
respectively by the names set forth in the said
Schedule; and that all boroughs in such districts
shall be deemed to be included in the counties
wherein they are situate.
SCHEDULE.
NELSON DISTRICT.
The Nelson District shall comprise the following
Subdivisions:-
The Buller and Grey Subdivision.
Bounded towards the West by the Pacific Ocean
from the mouth of the River Heaphy to the mouth
of the River Grey; thence up the River Grey to its
junction with the Arnold River; thence up the Arnold
River to Lake Brunner; thence up the boundary of
the Provincial District of Westland until it strikes
the eastern boundary of the Nelson South-West
Gold Fields; thence by the eastern boundary of the
Nelson South-West Gold Fields to the junction of
the Rivers Hope and Buller; thence in a straight
line to the Karamea Bend on Square 156; thence in
a straight line to Mount Peel; thence by the summit
of the range to Mount Domett; thence in a straight
line to the mouth of the River Heaphy.
The Golden Bay Subdivision.
Bounded by the sea-coast from the mouth of
the River Heaphy to Reef Point, Tasman Bay;
thence in a straight line to the summit of Mount
Richards; thence in a southerly direction by the
summit of the range to Mount Campbell; thence in
a straight line to Mount Peel; thence by the northern
boundary of the Buller and Grey Sheep District to
the mouth of the Heaphy River, on the sea-coast.
The Motueka Subdivision.
Bounded Northward by high-water mark from
Reef Point, Tasman Bay, to the West Bluff; thence
in a straight line to the junction of the Motupiko
and Motucka Rivers; thence by the boundary of the
Nelson South-West Gold Fields to the junction of
the Rivers Hope and Buller; thence by the boundary
of the Buller and Grey Sheep District to the Karamea
Bend; thence in a straight line to Mount Peel;
thence following the boundary of the Golden Bay
Sheep District to Reef Point.
The Nelson Subdivision.
Bounded by high-water mark from the West
Bluff, following the coast line to Tennyson Inlet;
thence following the boundary of the Provincial Dis-
trict of Marlborough to the Top House; thence in a
straight line to Mount Mackay; thence following
the boundary of the Nelson South-West Gold Fields
to the junction of the Motupiko with the Motueka
River; thence by a straight line following the boun-
dary of the Motueka Sheep District to the West
Bluff, on the sea-coast.
The Amuri Subdivision.
Bounded Southward by the Canterbury Sheep
District; Westward by the eastern boundary of the
Nelson South-West Gold Fields to Mount Mackay;
thence by a straight line to the Top House; thence
by the boundary of the Provincial District of Marl-
borough to the mouth of the River Conway; thence
by the sea-coast to the mouth of the Waiau-ua or
Dillon River.
CANTERBURY DISTRICT.
The Canterbury District is bounded towards the
North by the south bank of the Waiau-ua or Dillon
River, from its mouth to its source at Travers Peak;
thence by right lines from peak to peak to the sum-
mit of Mount Hochstetter; thence to the saddle be-
tween the Hurunui and Teremakau Rivers; thence
by a right line from peak to peak to the saddle at
the source of the Dobson River; thence by the
north bank of that river to its junction with the
Ohou Lake; thence along the north bank of the
Ohou Lake to the Ohou River; thence along the
north bank of the Ohou River to its junction with
the Waitaki; thence along the north bank of the
Waitaki River to the ocean; and thence by the
ocean to the starting point at the mouth of the
Waiau-ua or Dillon River; and shall comprise the
following subdivisions:-
The Northern Subdivision.
Bounded on the North by the northern boundary
of the Canterbury Sheep District; on the West by
the western boundary of said district; on the South
by the north bank of the Waimakariri River from
its source to the ocean; on the East by the ocean.
The Christchurch Subdivision.
Bounded on the North by the Northern Sub-
division; on the West by the western boundary of
