Gazette No. 17, of 20th March, 1873; proceeding
thence in a generally north-easterly, easterly, and
south-easterly direction for a distance of 43.50
chains or thereabouts, and passing in, into, through
or over the following lands: Town of Napier, Sec-
tions Nos. 349, 348, 346, 344, 342, 340, 338, 336,
334, 332, 329, 328, 326, 324, 322, and terminating at
a point on the southern boundary line of Section 319,
all within the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay, in
the Colony of New Zealand, and including all ad-
joining and intervening places, lands, roads, reserves,
streams, rivers, and watercourses, in the manner
delineated on the map and plan marked P.W.D.
7110, signed by the Honorable James Macandrew,
Minister for Public Works, deposited in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Napier, in
the Provincial District of Hawke's Bay; the total
length being 43.50 chains or thereabouts.

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred by the sixth section of
"The Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act,
1878," and of every power and authority in that
behalf, doth hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is taken for the
said portion of the said branch line of railway.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that parcel of land containing by admeasure-
ment two roods sixteen poles, more or less, situate in
Section numbered five, Block II., on the map of the
Aparima Hundred, in the Provincial District of
Otago and Colony of New Zealand: Commencing at
the north-western corner of said Section 5, and
bounded thence towards the South-west by a road,
473 links; thence towards the South-east by other
part of said Section 5, 127 links; thence towards the
North-east by other part of said section, 413 links;
and thence to the point of commencement on the
North by Nantwich Street, 131 links. Also all that
parcel of land containing by admeasurement seven
acres two roods one pole, more or less, situate in the
Township of Otautau, in the said provincial district:
Commencing at the north-western corner of Section
5, Block II., Aparima Hundred aforesaid, and bounded
thence towards the South-west by Nantwich Street
and a road, 191 links; thence again towards the
South-west by part of Section 28, Block IV., 193
links; thence again towards the South-west by Dur-
ham Street, 110 links; thence again towards the
South-west by parts of Sections numbered respectively
10, 9, 8, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19, in Block IV., 912
links; thence again towards the South-west by King
Street, 346 links; thence on the South by Knutsford
Street, 112 links; thence again towards the South-
west by Sections 25 and 26, Block V., 689 links;
thence again in a south-westerly direction by Devon
Street, 108 links; thence on the South by Section 3,
Block VIII., 146 links; thence again towards the
South-west by parts of Sections 1 and 2, Block VIII.,
448 links; thence on the North by Clitheroe Street,
112 links; thence again towards the South-west by
Clitheroe Street and parts of Sections 3, 4, 2, and 1,
Block VII., 1157 links; thence towards the West by
Hulme Street and part of Section 14, Block VII.,
566 links, thence towards the North by a road,
50 links and 191 links; thence on the East and
North-east by King Street, 491 links, 105 links, and
2488 links; thence again towards the North-east
by King and Rochdale Streets, 202 links; thence
again towards the North-east by Sections 20, 19, 18,
17, 16, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10, Block IV., 1100 links;
thence again towards the North-east by Durham
Street and a road, 100 links; thence again towards
the North-east by a road, a proposed street now part
of E Reserve, and Nantwich Street, 455 links; thence
to the point of commencement on the South by the
parcel of land first herein described, 131 links: be all
the aforesaid measurements more or less. The above
particulars being delineated upon the plan marked
P.W.D. 7082 hereto attached, and deposited in office
of the Minister for Public Works at Wellington, in
the Provincial District of Wellington.

Branch of the Railway from Invercargill to
Kingston, with Branches.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the sixth section of "The Public
Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," it
is, amongst other things, enacted that, at any time
and from time to time after the deposit of maps
and plans, pursuant to section one hundred and
twenty-five of "The Public Works Act, 1876," the
Governor may, by Proclamation, take any land
required for the railway, and that such Proclamation,
when gazetted, shall be conclusive evidence that the
land therein referred to is vested in Her Majesty in
fee-simple, freed and discharged from all mortgages,
charges, claims, estates, and interests of what kind
soever, for the use of the railway: And whereas by a
Proclamation issued under the authority of sections
one hundred and twenty-two, one hundred and
twenty-three, and one hundred and twenty-four of
"The Public Works Act, 1876," the middle line of
portion of the Riverton to Otautau branch of the
railway from Invercargill to Kingston, with branches,
being one of the railways specified in the Schedule to
the said "Public Works Act, 1876," was defined:
And whereas pursuant to the one hundred and
twenty-fifth section of "The Public Works Act,
1876," the Minister for Public Works has caused to
be made and, on the second day of July, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, to be
deposited in the office of the Registrar of the Supreme
Court at Invercargill, such maps and plans as were
necessary to explain the said portion of the said line
of railway and the land through which the same
passes, and such maps and plans were referred to in
such Proclamation as aforesaid: And whereas the
land described in the Schedule hereto is required to
be taken for the said portion of the said branch line
of railway:
