Defining the Middle Line of Portion of the Railway in South Molyneux Survey District, Block V., Sec-
from Olutha to Catlin's River.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and twenty-
second section of "The Public Works Act,
1876,"
it is enacted that every railway shall be made
only under the authority of a special Act, which
shall state as nearly as may be the line of the railway
and the two termini thereof; and, by the one hundred
and twenty-fourth section of the same Act, that when
any railway is to be constructed under the provisions of
any special Act the Governor shall issue a Proclama-
tion defining the middle line of the railway or any
part thereof, and may from time to time, by a Pro-
clamation revoking or amending such former Pro-
clamation, alter such line in any manner or to any
extent which may be found necessary for the con-
struction of such railway within the provisions of the
said special Act; and, by the one hundred and
twenty-fifth section of the same Act, that the
Minister shall cause to be made and deposited in the
office of the Registrar of the Supreme Court such
maps and plans as may be necessary to explain the
said line and the land through which the same passes,
and such maps and plans shall be referred to in any
such Proclamation: And whereas the railway from
Clutha to Catlin's River is one of the railways
specified in "The Immigration and Public Works
Appropriation Act, 1878,"
and which Act is therein
declared to be a special Act for the said railway
within the meaning of "The Public Works Act,
1876:"
And whereas it has been determined to
construct and maintain a portion of such railway,
namely, from a point within Section fourteen, Block
thirty-three, Clutha Survey District, to a point in
Section two, Block five, Molyneux Survey District,
all within the Provincial District of Otago:

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in exercise and in pursuance of the powers and autho-
rities conferred on me by "The Public Works Act,
1876,"
and in exercise of every other power and
authority enabling me in that behalf, do hereby pro-
claim and declare that the middle line of the said
portion of such railway shall be that defined and set
forth in the Schedule hereto. The said middle line
and the land through which the same passes are set
forth in the map and plan marked P.W.D. 7005, and
authenticated for the purposes of this Proclamation
by the signature of the Honorable James Macandrew,
Minister for Public Works, and which said map and
plan is deposited in the office of the Registrar of the
Supreme Court at Dunedin, in the Provincial District
of Otago..

SCHEDULE.

COMMENCING at a point within Section 14, Block
XXXIII., Clutha Survey District, said point being
within the limits of deviation of portion of the railway
from Amberley to the Bluff, as described in the Pro-
clamation dated the 14th May, 1877, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 44, of May 17,
1877, and proceeding thence in a generally southerly
direction for a distance of 6 miles 76 chains or
thereabouts, passing in, into, through, or over
the following lands: Clutha Survey District, Block
XXXIII., Sections Nos. 14, 15, 17, 18, and 19;
Block XXII., Sections Nos. 11, 9, 7, 5, 13, and
16; Block XVII., Sections Nos. 12, 10, 8, 6, 5, 3,
and 1; Block XVI., Section 11; Block XII., Sections
Nos. 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2; Block XI., Sections Nos.
10, 9, 8, 7, 5, 6, 4, and 2; Block X, Sections Nos. 13,
12, 10, 8, 5, 6, 4, and 2; and terminating at a point
tion No. 2; all within the Provincial District of
Otago, Colony of New Zealand; including all ad-
joining and intervening places, lands, roads, reserves,
streams, rivers, and watercourses; in the manner
delineated on the map and plan marked P.W.D.
7005, signed by the Honorable James Macandrew,
Minister for Public Works, deposited in the office of
the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Dunedin, in
the Provincial District of Otago; the total length
being 6 miles 76 chains or thereabouts.

Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington,
this twenty-ninth day of May, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-nine.

for taking Votes of Rate-
payers and Owners of Property. (In substitution of
certain Clauses in Regulation published in the New
Zealand Gazette No. 68, of 11th July, 1878.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
me by "The District Railways Act, 1877," and
"The District Railways Act 1877 Amendment Act,
1878,"
I, Hercules George Robert Robinson, the
Governor of New Zealand, do hereby, for the purpose
of ascertaining the votes of ratepayers and owners of
property in a railway district, make and prescribe
the following regulations for the formation of lists of
persons entitled to vote, and for ascertaining the
names and qualifications of persons so entitled, and
for the authentication and use of the lists so to be
made, and for the appointment, conduct, and duties
of persons before whom votes shall be taken, in sub-
stitution of clauses sixteen, seventeen, and twenty-
eight, and in addition to the Fourth Schedule, of
regulations dated the eleventh day of July, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-eight, and published
in the New Zealand Gazette No. 68, of the same date.

    cause to be filled in the voting paper. If the voter
    consents to the construction of the railway, he or
    his attorney, specially appointed for that purpose,
    must insert the word "Consent;" if he does not con-
