Land authorized to be taken by the Borough of
Thames for Drainage Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1876," it is enacted that the Council of a
borough constituted under that Act may take or
purchase under the provisions of "The Public Works
Act, 1876" (hereinafter called "the said Act"), and
any lands within the borough required for the good
and efficient drainage of the borough: And whereas
the Council of the Borough of Thames, requiring to
take the land described in the Schedule hereto for
the purpose of drainage, has laid before me the
memorial referred to by section twenty-five of "The
Public Works Act, 1876," praying me to declare,
by Proclamation, that such land is taken for such
purpose:
And whereas the Mayor of the said borough has,
in accordance with the twenty-eighth section of "The
Public Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878,"
laid before me a statutory declaration that the said
Council is authorized by law to undertake the work
for which the land described in the memorial laid
before me under section twenty-five of the said Act
is required, that all the provisions of the said Act as
to taking such land have been complied with, and
that the said Council are of opinion that the proposed
works should be executed, and that no private injury
will be done for which due compensation is not pro-
vided by the said Act:
And whereas it appears to me that all things
required by the "Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,"
"The Public Works Act, 1876," and "The Public
Works Act 1876 Amendment Act, 1878," to be
done and performed to authorize the taking of
such land have been done and performed, and it is
expedient to declare that such land is taken for the
purpose aforesaid:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice of the Executive Council of
the said colony, in exercise of the powers and
authorities in me vested by the said Acts, and of
any other power and authority enabling me in that
behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereto is taken by the
Council of the said borough for drainage purposes
as aforesaid; and that, from and after the tenth
day of May, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-nine, the said land shall become vested in
fee-simple in the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses
of the Borough of Thames, for drainage purposes as
aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
ALL those parcels of land, in the Provincial District
of Auckland, in the Colony of New Zealand, con-
taining by admeasurement twenty-one and nine-
tenths (21.9) perches, more or less, situate in the

Thames Survey District, and being portions of Allot-
ments numbered twenty-four (24), twenty-one (21),
twenty (20), nineteen (19), eighteen (18), seventeen
(17), twenty-six (26), twenty-seven (27), and thirty-
eight (38), of a subdivision into allotments of a
portion of the block called or known by the name of
the Karaka Block, and numbered one thousand two
hundred and forty-two A (1242A).
Portions of Allotments numbered twenty-four (24),
twenty-one (21), twenty (20), nineteen (19), eighteen
(18), seventeen (17), twenty-six (26), and twenty-
seven (27), containing sixteen and four-tenths (164)
perches. Bounded towards the North-east by Pollen
Street, two (2) feet; towards the South-east by
other portions of Allotments numbered twenty-four
(24), twenty-one (21), twenty (20), nineteen (19),
eighteen (18), seventeen (17), and twenty-six (26)
aforesaid, three hundred and thirty (330) feet;
towards the South-west by Eyre Street, fifteen (15)
feet; and towards the North-west by other portions
(17), eighteen (18), nineteen (19), twenty (20),
twenty-one (21), and twenty-four (24) aforesaid,
and the Karaka Creek, three hundred and thirty-
three (333) feet and one (1) inch: be all the afore-
said measurements more or less.
Portion of Allotment numbered thirty-eight (38),
containing five and one-half (5) perches. Bounded
towards the North-east by Eyre Street, fifteen (15)
feet; towards the South-east by other portion of
Allotment numbered thirty-eight (38), one hundred
(100) feet; towards the South-west by a line fifteen
(15) feet; and towards the North-west by other
portion of Allotment numbered thirty-eight (38)
aforesaid, one hundred (100) feet: be all the afore-
said measurements more or less.
Also all that portion of the Karaka Block included
by the production in a south-westerly direction, to
the seaward boundary of said block, of the lines
which form the south-eastern and north-western
boundaries of that portion of Allotment numbered
thirty-eight (38) above described, and containing by
admeasurement two (2) perches, more or less.
Bounded towards the North-east by part of the
south-western boundary of Allotment numbered
thirty-eight (38) aforesaid, fifteen (15) feet; towards
the South-east by other portion of the Karaka Block
aforesaid, thirty-two (32) feet; towards the South-
west by the sea, sixteen (16) feet eight (8)
inches; and towards the North-west by other portion
of the Karaka Block aforesaid, thirty-nine (39) feet:
be all the aforesaid measurements more or less.
The above particulars being delineated on the
plan attached to the memorial referred to.

Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distin-
guished Order of Saint Michael and Saint
George, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
Wellington, this tenth day of May, in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-nine.
