thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, for a public
railroad and railway station, and for such other pur-
poses or purpose of public utility as the Superin-
tendent of Canterbury should appoint:
And whereas the said reserve is for the purposes
named in Parts I. and II. of the Schedule to "The
Public Reserves Act Amendment Act, 1878," and, in
the opinion of the Administrator of the Government,
it is expedient to change the purpose of the portion
of such reserve referred to in the Schedule hereto to
one of the purposes named in Part III. of the said
Act:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator
of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand,
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said colony, and in exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in him by the sixth
section of "The Public Reserves Act Amendment
Act, 1878," doth hereby order and direct that the
purpose of the portion of the reserve mentioned in
the first column of the Schedule hereto shall be
changed from that of a reserve for a public railroad
and railway station and other purposes; and doth
hereby declare and define the purposes of the said
portion of such reserve to be those specified in the
second column of the said Schedule, the same being
one of the purposes named in Part III. of the
Schedule to the said Act.

Bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the north-western side of the road running through the said section in a south-westerly direction, the said point being distant ninety-three links and one half-link south-westerly from the north-east corner of the said section; thence south-westerly along the said road, eight chains fifty-one links and two-fifths of a link; thence north-westerly at an angle of 40° 23′, two chains sixty-eight links and seven-tenths of a link; thence north-easterly at an angle of 102° 42′, seventy-one links; thence north-westerly at an angle of 96° 39′, four chains ninety-nine links and three-tenths of a link; and from thence returning easterly by a straight line, five chains fifty-one links and three-tenths of a link, to the commencing point. | Site for school and master's house. |

the time for doing any such thing, and may by any
such order validate anything which may have been
irregularly done in matter of form: And whereas
owing to heavy floods and the stoppage of communica-
tion thereon ensuing, the valuation roll for the Okarito
Riding of the County of Westland could not be
transmitted to the Court to lie open for inspection
within the time specified by "The Rating Act, 1876:"
Now, therefore, I, Hercules George Robert Robinson,
the Administrator of the Government of the Colony
of New Zealand, by virtue of the powers enabling me
in that behalf, do order that the said roll shall lie
open for inspection at the Resident Magistrate's
Court at Okarito aforesaid, from the first day of March,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, to the
twelfth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-nine; and I hereby declare that the time for
inspection of the said roll hereby fixed shall be as
valid, legal, and effectual for all the intents and pur-
poses of the said Act as if the said roll had lain open
for inspection within the time originally fixed by the
said Act.

GOVERNMENT IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by the sixty-eighth section of "The
Rating Act, 1876," it is enacted that, if the
local body or Assessment Court fails through misad-
venture or accident to do anything which by that Act
is required to be done within a fixed time, the Gover-
nor may, by an Order in Council published in the
Government Gazette, and publicly notified, extend
Order in Council conferring certain Powers under
"The District Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865,"
on the Judge of the Christchurch District Court.

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand intituled "The District
Courts Act Amendment Act, 1865," it is enacted that
the powers conferred on Judges of District Courts in
and by the twenty-fifth, twenty-sixth, and twenty-
seventh sections of "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
shall be exercised only within such districts as shall
from time to time be named by the Governor, by
Order in Council published in the New Zealand
Gazette, as districts within which such powers may
be exercised:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Administrator
of the Government, in exercise of the power and
authority so vested in him as aforesaid, doth, by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council,
name and appoint the Christchurch District, as de-
fined in and by a certain Proclamation dated the
eighteenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight, to be a district within which the
Judge of the District Court of Christchurch may
exercise the powers conferred by the twenty-fifth,
twenty-sixth, and twenty-seventh sections of "The
District Courts Act, 1858."
