THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Province of Auckland intituled "The Highways Act,
1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby notify that I do hereby abolish the high-
way district constituted under the said "Highways
Act, 1874," and named the Waikohu Highway
District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Administrator of the Government, this
eighteenth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-nine.

Waikohu Highway District constituted.

UNDER and in pursuance of the powers and
authorities vested in me by an Act of the Pro-
vince of Auckland intituled "The Highways Act,
1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand,
hereby notify that I do hereby create that portion of
the Provincial District of Auckland described in the
Schedule hereto a new highway district, under the
said "Highways Act, 1874," by the distinctive name
of the Waikohu Highway District, and I declare that
the boundaries of the said district shall be those de-
scribed in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

THE boundaries of the Waikohu Highway District
are as follow: -Commencing at the mouth of the
Waikaahu Stream, and proceeding along said stream
to its junction with the Waikarikariki Stream; thence
along said Waikarikariki Stream to the north-eastern-
most corner of the Okahuatiu No. 2 Block; thence
along the north-eastern boundary of the said Oka-
huatiu No. 2 Block to the Wharekopae Stream;
thence along said Wharekopae Stream to the eastern
boundary of the Wharekopae Block; thence by right
lines in a north-easterly direction to the Hihiroa
Stream; thence along said Hihiroa Stream to the
southern boundary of said block to the Ngakoroa
Block; thence along the south-eastern and south-
western boundaries of said Ngakoroa Block to the
centre of the Waipaoa River; thence along the centre
of the said Waipaoa River to the mouth of the
Waikaahu Stream, the place of commencement: as
the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the
Survey Office, Auckland.

thence along the south-western and western boundaries of
the said Hihiroa Block and the southern boundaries
of the Waikohu-Matawai Block to Maungatapere;
thence along the western boundary of the said
Waikohu-Matawai Block to the Koranga River;
thence along the said Koranga River to the north-
western corner of the Motu Block; thence along the
north-western boundary of the said Motu Block to
the Motu River; thence along said Motu River to its
intersection by the production of the right line which
connects the Trig. Stations 140 and 139; thence by
the said produced line through said Trig. Station 140
to said Trig. Station 139; thence by a right line to
Trig. Station 178; thence by a right line to Trig.
Station 170; thence by a right line to Trig. Station
168; thence by a right line to Trig. Station 134;
thence by a right line to Trig. Station 129; thence to
and along the Waimata River to the southern boun-
dary of the Waimata West Block; thence along the
southern boundary of said block to the Ngakoroa
Block; thence along the south-eastern and south-
western boundaries of said Ngakoroa Block to the
centre of the Waipaoa River; thence along the centre
of the said Waipaoa River to the mouth of the
Waikaahu Stream, the place of commencement: as
the same is delineated on the plan deposited in the
Survey Office, Auckland.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Administrator of the Government, this

Highways Act brought into Operation in Waikohu
Highway District.

Administrator of the Government.

UNDER and in pursuance of an Act of the Pro-
vince of Auckland intituled "The Highways
Act, 1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby notify that I do hereby bring the said "High-
ways Act, 1874," into operation in the Waikohu
Highway District; and I further notify that I do
hereby appoint the thirty-first day of March, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, at twelve
noon, at Mr. Scott's woolshed, to be the day, hour,
and place for the first meeting of ratepayers for the
said district; and I appoint William Knox Chambers
to be the Chairman of such meeting.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Administrator of the Government, this
eighteenth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-nine.

Commissioners appointed to Classify Land in Otago.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the 75th section of "The Land Act,
1877," I, James Prendergast, the Administrator of
the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint

JAMES PILLANS MAITLAND, Esq.,
HORACE BASTINGS, Esq., and
WILLIAM ARTHUR, Esq.,

to be Commissioners for the purpose of classifying
Sections 4, 5, 6, and 7, Block XIV., Benger District,
being part of Run No. 369 within the Land District
of Otago, in the manner provided by the said 75th
section.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Administrator of the Government, this
fourteenth day of March, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-nine.

Judges of Assessment Courts under "The Rating Act, 1876," appointed.

IN pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities vested in me by "The Rating Act, 1876,"
I, James Prendergast, Administrator of the Government of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby
appoint the persons named in the Schedule hereto to be the Judges of the Assessment Courts for the
districts placed opposite their names.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, this eighteenth
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.
