Farewell Levée at Government House.

Government House,
Wellington, 30th January, 1879.

HIS Excellency the Governor will hold an undress Levée at Government House, on Saturday, the 15th of February, at 12.30 p.m. There will be no private entrée cards issued.

An undress Levée will also be held at the Provincial Buildings, Christchurch, on the 12th of February, at one o’clock; and at Dunedin on the 19th February, at one o’clock.

Notice by Mayor of Oamaru under Section 145 of “Municipal Corporations Act, 1876.”

THE following notice, received from His Worship the Mayor of Oamaru, is published in accordance with section 145 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876.”

To the Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.

SIR,—In accordance with the provisions of section 145 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1876,” I have the honor to forward to you the result of a poll taken on the 23rd instant, in the Municipality of Oamaru, on the proposal to borrow the sum of forty thousand pounds (£40,000), to be secured by the rents arising from the Municipal Endowment Sections enumerated in the Schedule to “The Oamaru Reserves Ordinance, 1865,” and a special rate in such sum (not exceeding one shilling in the pound), as may be required to make up the amount of the annual interest; the said loan of £40,000 to be devoted to the completion of the works now in progress for the supply of the town with water, viz.:

For the proposal ... ... 282 votes.
Against ... ... 9 ,,

Majority for proposal ... 273

—and I hereby declare the said proposal to be carried,
