Delegation to James Paterson, Esquire, of South | cemetery specified in the second column of the said
Molyneux, to perform duties under "The Port Schedule.
Molyneux Reserves Management Ordinance, 1875."

HERCULES ROBINSON, Governor.

WHEREAS by "The Port Molyneux Reserves
Management Ordinance, 1875," certain land
specified in the Schedule thereto was transferred to
and vested in the South Molyneux Road Board and
its successors, to be held by the said Board in trust
for commonage for the inhabitants of the Port
Molyneux subdivision of the South Molyneux Road
District: And whereas by "The Abolition of Pro-
vinces Act, 1875," such of the powers, duties, and
functions as are vested in the Superintendent by the
said Ordinance are now vested in and are to be exer-
cised and performed by the Governor: And whereas
by the twelfth section of the last-recited Act it is
declared that, in every Act or Ordinance (except as
therein mentioned) of an abolished province, the
word "Superintendent" shall, with respect to the pro-
vincial district of such abolished province, mean the
Governor, or any person whom the Governor may
from time to time appoint to perform those duties
and exercise those powers which might, if such duties
and powers had to be performed within a province,
be exercised or performed by the Superintendent
thereof: And whereas on the thirtieth day of April,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight,
James Pillans Maitland, Esquire, the Commissioner
of Crown Lands for the Land District of Otago, was
appointed to perform the duties and powers here-
tofore vested in the Superintendent by the third
section of the said Ordinance, and now are vested in
the Governor: And whereas it is expedient to
revoke such appointment:

Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert
Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of every power and
authority enabling me in this behalf, do hereby
revoke the appointment of the said James Pillans
Maitland, Esquire, and do appoint

JAMES PATERSON, Esquire, J.P.,
of Port Molyneux, to perform the duties and exercise
the powers which, by the third section of the said
Ordinance, were vested in the Superintendent of the
Province of Otago, and now are vested in the
Governor, and in his discretion to give or refuse
sanction and consent to the issue of licenses to the
inhabitants of the said Port Molyneux subdivision
of the South Molyneux Road District, to use the
lands in the said Ordinance mentioned as a com-
monage for cattle.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this twenty-seventh day of
October, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-nine.

Trustees appointed for Maintenance of Tauranga
Cemetery.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by the second section
of "The Cemeteries Management Act, 1877," I, Sir
Hercules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the
several persons whose names are specified in the
first column of the Schedule hereto to be Trustees
to provide for the maintenance and care of the public

Regulations for the Licensing and Management of
Slaughterhouses and Inspection thereof, and of
Cattle intended for Slaughter in the County of
Geraldine.

IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Slaughter-
house Act, 1877," the Bench of Magistrates of
the County of Geraldine do hereby order as follows,
that is to say,-

  1. Interpretation. - Wherever in these regulations
    any of the terms mentioned in section 5 of the said
    Act are used, such terms shall, in the construction
    hereof, have the meaning assigned to them by the said
    section of the said Act, unless there be something in
    the context or subject-matter repugnant thereto.

  2. Fee for Slaughterhouse License. - There shall
    be paid to the Clerk to the Bench, in respect of every
    license issued by the Bench for a slaughterhouse,
    and in respect of every renewal of any such license,
    the sum of ten shillings.

  3. Slaughterhouses to be kept Clean. - Every keeper
    of a slaughterhouse shall at all times keep the same,
    and the premises connected therewith, and the
    appurtenances thereto belonging, in a clean state and
    free from offensive effluvia, and in all respects to the
    satisfaction of any Inspector appointed or to be
    appointed under the said Act; and every such keeper
    of a slaughterhouse shall so dispose of the blood,
    offal, drainage, and other refuse-matter therefrom
    that the same shall not create a nuisance, nor be
    offensive to persons residing or being in or passing
    through the neighbourhood of such slaughterhouse;
    and no keeper of a slaughterhouse shall permit any
    blood, offal, drainage, or refuse-matter to accumulate
    in, upon, or about the same or on the premises con-
    nected therewith, or to flow, fall, or be thrown, or
    put in to any river, stream, drain, or watercourse.
    Every person who shall commit a breach of the
    regulations shall on conviction thereof be liable to a
    penalty not exceeding five pounds.

  4. Fees for Inspection of Cattle. - There shall be
    paid to such Inspector as aforesaid by every keeper
    of a slaughterhouse in respect of cattle slaughtered
    therein the fees following, that is say, for all large
    cattle the sum of threepence for every head thereof,
    and for all small cattle the sum of threepence for
    every dozen or the fractional part of a dozen head
    thereof: Provided that if, and wherever, the num-
    ber of small cattle slaughtered in any one week in
    any such slaughterhouse shall exceed eight dozen
    head, the sum to be paid in respect thereof shall be at
    the rate of threepence for every dozen head thereof
