MARIA HOBBS, of the City of Christchurch,
Widow, claiming as Devisee under the Will
of WILLIAM HOBBS, late of Christchurch, Tailor,
deceased, having applied to be registered as Mortga-
gee under the Mortgage, registered number 1905,
from WILLIAM ALFRED HOBBS to WILLIAM HOBBS,
and evidence having been produced as to the loss of
the said Mortgage: Notice is hereby given that the
said Maria Hobbs will be registered in the terms of
her application, unless caveat be lodged forbidding
the same within fourteen days after the publication
of the Gazette containing this notice.

NOTICE is hereby given that JOHN DYER, of
Lyttelton, Carpenter, claiming as Heir-at-law
of WILLIAM DYER, late of Governor's Bay, Farmer,
deceased (who died intestate), has applied to be
registered as Proprietor of 1 rood, part of Rural
Section No. 238, Christchurch District, comprised in
Certificate of Title, Vol. i., folio 271; and that he
will be so registered, unless caveat forbidding the
same be lodged within one month after the date of
the Gazette containg this notice.

PROCLAMATION BY THE WHANGAREI COUNTY
COUNCIL THAT CERTAIN LANDS ARE REQUIRED
TO BE TAKEN FOR ROAD WORKS WITHIN THE
RUARANGI HIGHWAY DISTRICT, WHANGAREI
COUNTY.
WHEREAS by "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
it is, among other things, enacted that, when-
ever it shall become necessary to take any lands for
county works, it shall be lawful to cause a survey to
be made and plans to be prepared, showing generally
the nature of the works proposed to be executed and
the lands required to be taken for the same, together
with the names of the owners and occupiers of such
lands as far as they can be ascertained, and shall
cause a copy of such plans to be deposited in some
place in the road district in which such lands are, and
such plan to be open to inspection at all reasonable
hours; and any person having custody thereof, and
refusing and obstructing such inspection, shall for
every such offence be liable to a penalty of not more
than five pounds:
And it is further enacted that it shall be gazetted
and publicly notified, stating the place where such
plans are open for inspection, with a general descrip-
tion of the works proposed to be executed and of
the land required to be taken; and in such notice
shall call upon all persons affected to set forth in
writing any well-grounded objections to the execution
of such works or to the taking of such lands, and to
send such writing, within forty days from the first
publication of such notice, to the County Council:
Now I, Finlayson Smith, Chairman of the Whan-
garei County Council, notify that a copy of such
plans are open for inspection at the residence of Mr.
John Solon, Ruarangi District; that the works pro-
posed to be executed are the forming of a road and
the construction of a bridge; and the lands required
to be taken are as follows:—

And I hereby call upon all persons affected to set
