IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested
in me by the seventy-fifth section of "The Land
Act, 1877," I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis
of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New

HORACE BAKER, Esq.,

to be Commissioners for the purpose of classifying
any rural lands situate within the Land District of
Hawke's Bay, in the manner provided by the said
seventy-fifth section.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the
Governor, this nineteenth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.

IN pursuance pursuance and exercise of all powers and authorities vested in me by "The Rating Act, 1876,"
do hereby appoint the person named in the Schedule hereto to be Judge of the Assessment Court for the
district placed opposite to his name.

Order.β€”Canterbury Tramway Company (Limited).

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities vested in me by an Act of the late
Province of Wellington, intituled "The Highways
Act, 1874," and by "The Abolition of Provinces Act,
1875," I, George Augustus Constantine, Marquis of
Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby appoint that, for each of the wards
mentioned in the first column of the Schedule hereto,
the voters qualified to vote for the election of a
Warden in such ward shall meet at the time and
place set opposite the name of such ward in the
second and third columns of the said Schedule
respectively, for the purpose of electing a Warden
for such ward; and I do hereby appoint the person
whose name is stated in the fourth column of the
said Schedule to be the Presiding Officer at the
meetings to be held at the respective times and places
mentioned in the second and third columns of the
said Schedule, opposite the names of the said person.

In the matter of "The Tramways Act, 1872," and in
the matter of an application made by the Canter-
bury Tramway Company (Limited) incorporated
under and pursuant to "The Joint Stock Com-
panies Act, 1860."

SCHEDULE.

WHEREAS the Canterbury Tramway Company
(Limited) did, on the fourth day of April, and
on the eleventh day of April, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-eight, duly publish in the
Lyttelton Times newspaper, being a newspaper pub-
lished and current in the City of Christchurch, in the
Colony of New Zealand, and also on the eleventh
day of April, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight, did publish in the New Zealand Gazette, a
notice of their intention to apply for an Order, in
accordance with the provisions of "The Tramways
Act, 1872," for the construction of tramways in the
City of Christchurch and its vicinity, and that, on or
before Saturday, the eighteenth day of May, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, the deposit
required in accordance with subsection 2, section 7,
and Part 11, Schedule number 3, of "The Tramways
Act, 1872," would be duly made:

And whereas, pursuant to such notice, the said
Company did, on the fourth day of June, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-eight, memorialize
me, the undersigned George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, for an Order for the construction
of the tramways in the said notice mentioned, and I
have deemed it expedient that such Order should be
made:

And whereas the Mayor, Councillors, and citizens
of the City of Christchurch, incorporated under the
provisions of "The Municipal Corporations Act,
1867," and "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1868,"
