Returning Officers and Polling-places appointed for
First Elections, South Wyndham Road District.
NORMANBY, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in me by "The
Otago Roads Ordinance, 1871," and "The Aboti-
tion of Provinces Act, 1875," I, George Augustus
Constantine, Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of
the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint the
several places mentioned in the first column of the
Schedule hereto to be the respective polling-places
for the respective subdivisions of the South Wyndham
Road District, the names whereof are set opposite
such places in the second column of the said Sche-
dule. And I do hereby appoint the several persons
whose names are set forth in the third column of the
said Schedule to be the persons by and before whom
the first elections of members of the Board of the
said district for the subdivisions opposite to which
their names are respectively set shall be held.

polling-place for the Toe-toes Road District. And

elections of members of the Board of the said dis-
trict shall be held.

Gold-mining Leases to be granted.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity with the 37th section of "The
Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant leases for gold-mining purposes of
Crown lands to the applicants specified in the annexed
Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections against
such leases.
Objections to granting such leases, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden, at Collingwood, on or be-
fore the 26th day of January, 1878.
Copies of the applications made and plans annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office, at Colling-
wood.
SCHEDULE.
JOHN GRANGE, John Allen, and John Shaw, calling
themselves "The Mount Ophir Gold Mining Com-
pany." 16 acres in the Golden Bay Mining District.
F. H. Guinness and Thomas Snell, calling them-
selves "The Excelsior Quartz Mining Company." 16
acres in the Golden Bay Mining District.
Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
