lowing the north-eastern bank of the River Garry
to the eastern boundary of Native Reserve No.
893, thence along said boundary and a line in con-
tinuation thereof to the River Ashley in the Upper
Valley, and along the river to its source; thence
by the southern boundary of the Waipaka Road
District to the north-western boundary of Run
464, following that boundary southerly to the
westernmost corner of said run; thence by the
northern and eastern boundaries of Runs 165, 166,
and 168, to Mount Karetu; thence by the ridge of
hills to the summit of Mount Grey, thence south-
easterly by a straight line to the westernmost corner
of Section 9015, thence following the road dividing
Section 9015, thence following the road dividing
Sections 9015 and 7944, and along the road dividing
Sections 4018 and 3690, to the Rangiora and Leith-
field Road; thence north-easterly along said road to
road dividing Sections 3348 and 3577, along this road
to the Upper Sefton Road, and this last-named road
to the road north-east of Section 2137, and continu-
ing southerly along said road forming the western
boundary of Section 1976 to the River Ashley;
thence easterly along the Ashley to the North Road,
and from thence following the latter road southerly
to the commencing point.
KAIAPOI DISTRICT.
Bounded on the Northward by the Rangiora and
Mount Grey Districts; on the Eastward by the sea;
on the Westward by a true north and south line
drawn through Trig. Pole C 30, on the south bank
of the Waimakariri; and on the Southward by the
Christchurch District (southern bank of Waima-
kariri).
And I hereby declare that this Proclamation shall
come into operation and take effect on the tenth
day of September, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-first day of August, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.

Births and Deaths Act, 1875."

A PROCLAMATION.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in
me by "The Registration of Births and Deaths
Act, 1875," I, George Augustus Constantine, Mar-
quis of Normanby, the Governor of New Zealand, do
hereby proclaim and declare that the boundaries of
the Oxford District, the Rangiora District, and the
Kaiapoi District as now constituted under "The
Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875," shall
be and the same are hereby altered; and do hereby
proclaim and declare that the territory therein com-
prised shall be divided anew into four districts, the
names whereof shall be the Oxford District, the Cust
District, the Rangiora District, and the Kaiapoi
District; and that the boundaries of the said districts
shall be coterminous with the boundaries of districts
bearing the same names, as are set forth in a Pro-
clamation of even date herewith, made under the
provisions of "The Marriage Act Amendment Act,
1858;" and I hereby declare that this Proclamation
shall come into operation and take effect on the
tenth day of September, in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight.
