Altering the Boundaries of a Mining District.

A PROCLAMATION.
W HEREAS by a Proclamation under the hand
of the Superintendent of Otago, bearing date
the fourth day of September, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-five, certain land therein
specified within the Province of Otago, being that
described in the First and Second Schedules hereto,
was declared to be included within, and form part
of, the "Otago Gold Field:"
And whereas by the sixth section of "The Mines
Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Governor from time to time, by Proclamation, to
constitute and appoint any portion of the colony to
be a mining district under that Act, to assign
boundaries to such district, to enlarge, contract, or
otherwise alter such boundaries, and to declare by
what local name every such district shall be designated;
and that, until the Governor shall otherwise order,
every gold field duly proclaimed or constituted at the
time of the commencement of the now recited Act
shall be deemed a mining district under the said
Act:
And whereas it is desirable and expedient to con-
tract the boundaries of the said gold field, so as to
exclude therefrom the land described in the First
Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by "The Mines
Act, 1877," do hereby proclaim and order that the
boundaries of the land described in the said Pro-
clamation of the Superintendent of Otago shall be
and the same are hereby contracted, so that such boun-
daries shall exclude the land described in the First
Schedule hereto, and that the boundaries of the land
declared by the Proclamation above mentioned to be
included in the "Otago Gold Field" shall hence-
forth be those specified in the Second Schedule.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago, in
the Colony of New Zealand, containing by ad-
measurement five hundred (500) acres two (2) roods
and twenty-four (24) poles, more or less. Bounded
by a line commencing at the north-west corner
of Section numbered seven (7), Block six (VI.),
Kauroo Survey District, and proceeding due east,
seven thousand and ninety-five (7095) links; thence
by a line proceeding due south, two thousand and
eighty-six (2086) links; thence by a line proceeding
again due east, three thousand five hundred and
seventeen (3517) links; thence by a line proceeding
again due south, two thousand seven hundred and
fifty-four (2754) links; thence by a line proceeding
due west, three thousand five hundred and seven-
teen (3517) links; thence by a line proceeding due
north, one thousand five hundred and forty-one
(1541) links; thence by a line proceeding again due
west, five thousand six hundred and seven (5607)
links; thence by a line proceeding in a south-
easterly direction, and bearing 144° 1', eight thou-
sand six hundred and thirty-one (8631) links; thence
by a line proceeding in a south-westerly direction,
and bearing 234° 1', three thousand and eight (3008)
links; thence by a line proceeding in a north-
westerly direction, and bearing 336° 5' 30", ten
thousand (10000) links; thence by a line proceed-
ing in a north-westerly direction, and bearing
338° 45', nine hundred and seventy-nine (979) links;
thence by a line proceeding due north, one
thousand six hundred and fifteen (1615) links, to the
starting point: be all the aforesaid linkages more or
less; as the same is delineated on the plan deposited
in the Provincial Survey Office, Dunedin.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
ALL that area in the Provincial District of Otago, in
the Colony of New Zealand, bounded by a line
commencing at Kakanui Peak, and proceeding in a
north-easterly direction along the present boundary
of the gold field to a point due north from Scout
