Notification of Resignation of Seat in the House of
Representatives for Electoral District of Inver-
cargill.

IN compliance with the provisions of the thirteenth
section of "The Regulation of Elections Act,
1870," I hereby notify that George Lumsden, Esquire,
has resigned his seat in the House of Representatives
for the Electoral District of Invercargill, and that his
letter of resignation was received by me on the
15th day of June, 1878; and that the said seat is
vacant by reason of such resignation.

Commissioner's Report—No. 18.

I DAVID LEWIS, a Commissioner duly appointed
by virtue of an Act of the General Assembly
of New Zealand, intituled "The Lost Land Orders
Act, 1861," to hear and decide claims for Crown
grants of lands for which the orginal land orders
have been lost or destroyed, report that the claim of
Sir William Hutt, Isle of Wight, in England, Knight,
having been referred to me by command of the
Governor, I do hereby decide that the said William
Hutt is entitled to Government scrip under the
provisions of "The Manawatu Land Orders Act,
1877," in satisfaction of four land orders declared to
be lost-namely, Nos. 641, 642, 674, and 697, issued
by the New Zealand Company.

Sheep Inspector's Notice.

Wellington, 13th June, 1878.

NOTICE has been received from the Inspector of
Sheep for the Rangitikei District that he has
cancelled the clean certificate of Mr. Alexander
Simpson, of Turakina, for a flock of 500 hoggets, from
the 4th instant.

Maps, showing position of sections, may be seen
at the District Land Office, Patea; Survey Office,
Wanganui; and at this office.
