Nuisance Act (Session I., No. 4), 1854," it is, among
other things, enacted that the said Act shall come
into operation in such districts as shall be proclaimed
by the Superintendent in the Auckland Provincial
Gazette to come within the operation of the said Act:
And whereas the powers vested in the Superin-
tendent by the said Act are now, by "The Abolition
of Provinces Act, 1875," vested in the Governor:
And whereas it is expedient that the district com-
prised within the County of Thames should be pro-
claimed to come within the operation of the said
first-mentioned Act:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that,
on and from the date of this Proclamation, the said
"Dog Nuisance Act, 1854," shall come into operation
within the district comprised in the County of
Thames, and the said Act shall extend and apply
to the said County of Thames accordingly.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael
and St. George; Governor and Com-
mander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's
Colony of New Zealand and its Depen-
dencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same;
and issued under the Seal of the said
Colony, at the Government House, at
Wellington, this eighteenth day of June,
in the year of our Lord one thousand

A PROCLAMATION.
BY virtue of the power vested in me by the third
section of "The Regulation of Local Elections
Act, 1876," I, George Augustus Constantine, Mar-
quis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that
the said Act shall come into force, in respect of all
elective offices of the Tauranga North Township
Highway Board, within the district known as the
Tauranga North Township Highway District.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-

Land within the Nelson South-West Gold Field
exempted from Occupation for Mining Purposes.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The Mines
Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor in the Proclamation constituting a
mining district, and also from time to time by Procla-
mation subsequently issued, either by general or par-
ticular description, to set apart for mining purposes
exclusively any portion of Crown lands within a mining
district, and in like manner to exempt from occupa-
tion for mining purposes, or for water-races, dams,
or reservoirs, or for machine, business, or residence
sites, any land within the boundaries of such mining
district, and from time to time any such exemp-
tion to revoke, and the limits and extent of the
land in any such district comprised to alter as he
may think fit:
And whereas at the time of the commencement of
the said Act there was constituted a gold field
known as the "Nelson South-West Gold Field," and
such gold field is by the provisions of the said "Mines
Act, 1877," to be deemed a mining district under that
Act:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule
hereto is within such mining district, and it is ex-pedient to exempt the same from occupation for
mining purposes, or for water-races, dams, or reser-
voirs, or for machine, business, or residence sites:
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authorities vested in me by "The Mines
Act, 1877," do proclaim and declare that the land
described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted
from occupation for mining purposes, or for water-
races, dams, or reservoirs, or for machine, business,
or residence sites.
SCHEDULE.
A BREADTH of one mile on each side of the Waiman-
garoa River, beginning at the crossing of the
Westport and Ngakawau Railway, and extending up
the river to the confluence of the south branch with
main stream.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
