the West by a line along the summit of the Southern
Alps to the saddle, the starting point.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
eighteenth day of June, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight.

Boundaries of District Court District of Timaru
and Oamaru altered.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The District Courts Act, 1858,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor from time to time, as he shall think fit, by
Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to con-
stitute throughout the colony, or in any part thereof,
districts within which District Courts shall be re-
spectively held, and such districts to abolish, and the
boundaries thereof to define or alter:

And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-two, a district was defined
within which a District Court should be held under
the said Act, and it was thereby declared that the
said Court should be designated by the name of"The District Court of Timaru and Oamaru."

And whereas it is expedient to alter the boundaries
of the said district so defined as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after
the first day of July next, the boundaries of the
district within which the District Court of Timaru
and Oamaru shall be held shall be altered, and that
thenceforth the boundaries thereof shall be the
boundaries hereinafter described.

THE DISTRICT COURT OF TIMARU AND OAMARU.
Description of District.

All that area partly in the Provincial District of
Canterbury and partly in the Provincial District of
Otago, bounded towards the North-east by a line
along the summit of the Two Thumb Range from the
Southern Alps, near Mount Tyndall, to the source of
the Forest Creek, thence by the middle of that creek
to the Rangitata River, and thence by the middle of
that river to the sea; towards the East by the sea to
the Waikouaiti River; towards the South and West
by that river and its northern branch to its source
near Dunback Hill, thence by a right line to the
junction of the Deepdale Stream with the Waihemo

or Shag River, thence by the summit of the nearest
spur to the summit of the Kakanui Mountains,
thence by right lines from peak to peak to Kyeburn
Hill, thence by a right line to the summit of Little
Domett Peak, thence due west to the Hawkdun
Mountains, thence by right lines from peak to peak
along the said mountains to a point due east of
Mount St. Bathans, thence by a right line due west
to Mount St. Bathans, thence by a right line due
north to the boundary line of the Provincial District
of Otago; towards the South by that boundary to
Mount Aspiring; and again towards the West by
the summit of the Southern Alps to the starting
point, near Mount Tyndall.

and sixty-four, a district was defined within which a
District Court should be held under the said Act, and
it was thereby declared that the said Court should be
designated by the name of "The District Court of
Otago Gold Fields:"

And whereas by Proclamations bearing date the
tenth day of July, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-five, and the twenty-third day of January, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, the boun-
daries of the said district so defined were altered:

And whereas it is expedient to further alter the
boundaries of the said district so defined and altered
as aforesaid:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after
the first day of July next, the boundaries of the dis-
trict within which the District Court of Otago Gold
