THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE. 855

relative to the shipment of Angora goats to the
colony.
I have, &c.,
JULIUS VOGEL,
Agent-General.
The Hon. the Colonial Secretary, Wellington.

Constantinople, 12th April, 1878.
SIR,-I beg to acknowledge receipt of your favour of
25th ultimo. Thank you for the kind interest you
have taken in the matter of the Angora goats. I
find now that there will be no difficulty whatever in
transhipping from Melbourne to New Zealand, and
further that if a small flock, say 80 to 100 goats, were
ordered, they could be delivered at a considerable re-
duction on the price previously quoted. The animals
would be of the very finest and purest breed, and
could be delivered in New Zealand at Β£40 per pair,
guaranteed to be in perfect health and condition. I
should send them hence to Egypt or Malta, thence
by the Peninsula and Oriental steamers. The short
sea voyage to these places would insure the animals
being quite sound prior to shipment, and the journey
would be then only about thirty-five days by sea.
There would be much greater risk in sending the
goats to England, unless in the summer, and very
few steamers from this make the passage in less than
twenty days.

I remain, &c.,
JOHN R. PARRY.
The Agent-General for New Zealand, London.
