THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

PATENT for a certain Invention for, and Improvements in, Machinery for mechanically, and at one operation, scraping and cleaning the Phormium Tenax and other similar vegetable fibrous plants on both sides simultaneously, for the purpose of removing the gummy, resinous, and other deleterious substances contained therein or thereupon.

This is to notify that JOSEPH HURLEY, of Wellington, New Zealand, Engineer, did, on the thirtieth day of January last, deposit at the office of the Patent Officer, in the Colonial Secretary’s Office, in Wellington, a specification or instrument in writing under his hand and seal, particularly describing and ascertaining the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed; and that by reason of the said deposit the said Invention is protected and secured to him exclusively for the term of six calendar months thence next ensuing:

And I do further notify that the said Joseph Hurley has given notice in writing at my office of his intention to proceed with his application for Letters Patent for the said Invention, and that I have appointed Friday, the nineteenth day of July next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, at my office, to hear and consider the said application and all objections thereto; and I do hereby require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the fifteenth day of July next, at my office in Wellington, particulars in writing of their objections to the said application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

PATENT FOR AN IMPROVED MOVEABLE WOOL PRESS.

THIS is to notify that JOHN SPEEDY, of Wainui, Hawke’s Bay, Sheep Farmer, did, on the twenty-third day of April instant, deposit at the office of the Patent Officer, in the Colonial Secretary’s Office, in Wellington, a specification or instrument in writing under his hand and seal, particularly describing and ascertaining the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed; and that by reason of such deposit the said Invention is protected and secured to him exclusively for the term of six calendar months thence next ensuing:

And I do further notify that the said John Speedy has given notice in writing at my office of his intention to proceed with his application for Letters Patent for the said Invention, and that I have appointed Friday, the twenty-seventh day of September next, at eleven o’clock in the forenoon, at my office, to hear and consider the said application and all objections thereto; and I do hereby require all persons having an interest in opposing the grant of such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the twenty-third day of September next, at my office in Wellington, particulars in writing of their objections to the said application, otherwise they will be precluded from urging the same.

NOTICE is hereby given that the several parcels of land hereinafter described will be brought under the provisions of “The Land Transfer Act, 1870,” unless caveat be lodged forbidding the same within one calendar month from the date of publication of this notice in the Gazette.

EDWARD WEBBY, of the District of Waimea East, Farmer, Applicant.—2 acres 2 roods 20 perches, being part of Section 59, on the plan of the said district. Bounded—North-eastward (820 links) by a stream; South-eastward (270 links) by other part of same section; North-westward (358 links) and South-westward (621 links) by public roads. JAMES WATKINS, of the City of Nelson, Gentleman, Applicant.—2 roods, being part of Section 182, on the plan of the said city. Bounded—West (140 feet) by Collingwood Street; North and East by other parts of same section; South (180 feet) by Halifax Street. (W. Rout, Broker.)
