Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.
PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.
IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant a lease of Crown lands for gold-
mining purposes to the applicants specified in the
annexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objec-
tions against such lease.
Objections to the granting of such lease, stating
the grounds of objection, must be made in writing,
and lodged with the Warden at Naseby, on or before
the 17th day of May, 1878.
Copy of the application made and plan annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Naseby.
SCHEDULE.
SIMON HEWITT and ANOTHER. For three acres of
land, more or less, as the same may be found after
survey to be within the pegs and trenches of the
applicants; situated at the spur between Coalpit
and Wet Gullies, Naseby, on the north side of and
immediately adjoining Jacob Lory's mining lease
application.

Depasturing Regulations for the County of Vincent, in
the Colony of New Zealand.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by subsections four and five of the
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor,
subject to the provisions of the said Act, from time
to time to make, alter, amend, and revoke rules and
regulations for regulating the depasturing of stock
upon any lands within mining districts for which a
lease or license for depasturing purposes has not
been granted, or has been cancelled or suspended,
and the number of horses or cattle which may be
run upon such lands by the holders of miners' rights
and business licenses, or of mining and agricultural
leases, or by other persons, and for the issue of de-
pasturing licenses, and to regulate the fees that
shall be paid therefor, and for imposing penalties in
respect to the breach of any such regulations; for
imposing penalties upon the owners of any cattle
illegally depasturing on such lands, and for recover-
ing from such owners, in addition to any of the
aforesaid penalties, all the costs and charges incident
to the collecting and recovering such cattle: And
whereas by the sixth section of "The Mines Act,
1877," it is enacted that, until the Governor shall
otherwise order, every gold field duly proclaimed or
constituted at the time of the commencement of the
said Act shall be and be deemed to be a mining dis-
trict under the said Act: And whereas by the one
hundredth section of "The Mines Act, 1877," it is
enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor to
delegate to the Chairman of the County Council in
the mining district in which such county is situate
all the powers vested in the Governor for the pur-
poses hereinbefore recited, subject or not to any
limitations or restrictions as he may think fit, and in
like manner to alter or revoke such delegation: And
whereas the Governor hath, by delegation in the New
Zealand Gazette, on the fourth day of February, one
thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, in pursu-
ance of the power and authority for that purpose
vested in him by "The Mines Act, 1877," and sub-
ject to its provisions, delegated unto the Chairman
for the time being of the County Council of Vincent
all the powers vested in the Governor by subsections
four and five of section fifty-one of "The Mines Act,
1877," and hath declared that the powers thereby
delegated shall be exercised and performed only
within the said County of Vincent, and by and with
the consent of the County Council of the said
County of Vincent: And whereas the County Coun-
cil of the County of Vincent have determined to
make, proclaim, and declare the regulations herein-
after mentioned:
Now, therefore, I, Vincent Pyke, Chairman of the
Council of the Vincent County, by and with the con-
sent of the County Council of the said county, and
by virtue and in exercise of the power delegated to
the Chairman for the time being of the County
Council of the County of Vincent, do hereby make,
proclaim, and declare the regulations hereinafter
mentioned for the depasturing of stock on any lands
within the said County of Vincent for which a lease
or license for depasturing purposes has not been
granted, or has been cancelled or suspended.
REGULATIONS.
1.-Interpretation.
In these regulations the words "great cattle"
shall be construed to mean and include horned cattle,
horses, mules, and asses, male and female, and the
offspring thereof above six months of age; and the
