appoint

JOHN KELLY
to be a Draftsman in the Surveyor-General's Depart-
ment at Christchurch. The appointment dates from
the 23rd March, 1878.

Gold-Mining Lease to be granted.

PUBLIC NOTIFICATION.

IN conformity with the thirty-seventh section of
"The Mines Act, 1877," and with the regulations
made under that Act for the granting of leases for
gold-mining purposes, it is hereby notified that it is
intended to grant a lease for gold-mining purposes
of Crown lands to the applicants specified in the an-
nexed Schedule, unless there shall be valid objections
against such lease.

Objections to granting such lease, stating the
grounds of objection, must be made in writing, and
lodged with the Warden at Stafford, on or before
the 22nd day of May, 1878.

Copy of the application made and plan annexed
may be seen at the Warden's Office at Stafford.

SCHEDULE.

HENRY THOMAS and PARTY. Style under which it
is intended to conduct the business: "Prince of
Wales Quartz-Mining Company." Four hundred by
two hundred yards, in the Westland Mining District.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
sixteenth day of April, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-eight.

JAMES M. BEECHE. Style under which it is in-
tended to conduct the business: "Sanguine Gold-
Mining Company." Sixteen acres two roods, in the
Nelson South-West Mining District.

PATRICK BRENNAN. Style under which it is in-
tended to conduct the business: "Hopeful Gold-
Mining Company." Sixteen acres two roods, in the
Nelson South-West Mining District.

LOUIS DAVIES. Style under which it is intended
to conduct the business: "Flora Gold-Mining Com-
pany." Sixteen acres two roods, in the Nelson
South-West Mining District.

Given under my hand, at Wellington, this
