"THE DISTRICT RAILWAYS ACT, 1877."
NOTICE is hereby given that the Plan and Book
of Reference of a Branch Railway proposed
to be constructed through portions of the Waitaki
and Waikouaiti Counties, in the Provincial District
of Otago, by the Shag Point Coal Company (Limited),
were, on the 15th day of March, 1878, deposited in
the Resident Magistrate's Court at Palmerston, in
the said provincial district, and are there open to
public inspection.

COUNTY OF BAY OF ISLANDS.
ORDER OF BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Bay of Islands County Council
did, at a special meeting held on the 13th day
of February, 1878, pass a resolution, "That the Road
Board of the Russell Road District be dissolved, and
that, on and after the 20th day of March, 1878, such
Road District be merged in the County;" and
whereas the Council, at a special meeting held on
the 18th day of March, 1878, did confirm the afore-
said resolution, and did direct that an order in
conformity with such resolution be drawn up and
sealed with the seal of the county, and be forthwith
gazetted and publicly notified: Now it is by this
order declared that, on and after the 20th day of
March, 1878, the Road Board of the Russell Road
District shall be dissolved, and the said Road Dis-
trict merged in the County.
Given under the seal of the County of Bay
of Islands.

I HEREBY give notice that, in pursuance of the
powers granted by "The Public Works Act,
1876," the Southland County Council did, on 22nd
March instant, declare the following road to be a
County Road within the meaning of the said Act-
viz., Road from Mataura Bridge to Gore.

PATENT FOR AN IMPROVEMENT IN THE MANU-
FACTURE OF HEMATITE PAINT.
THIS is to notify that THOMAS BROWN LOUISSON,
of Nelson, Painter, did, on this twenty-seventh
day of March instant, deposit at the office of the
Patent Officer, in the Colonial Secretary's Office, in
Wellington, a specification or instrument in writing
under his hand and seal, particularly describing and
ascertaining the nature of the said Invention, and in
what manner the same is to be performed; and that
by reason of such deposit the said Invention is pro-
tected and secured to him exclusively for the term of
six calendar months thence next ensuing.
And I do further notify that the said Thomas
Brown Louisson has given notice in writing at my
office of his intention to proceed with his application
for Letters Patent for the said Invention, and that I
have appointed Friday, the twenty-sixth day of July
next, at eleven o'clock in the forenoon, at my office,
to hear and consider the said application and all
objections thereto; and I do hereby require all per-
sons having an interest in opposing the grant of
such Letters Patent to leave, on or before the twenty-
second day of July next, at my office, in Wellington,
particulars in writing of their objections to the said
application, otherwise they will be precluded from
urging the same.
Given under my hand, this twenty-seventh day of
March, 1878.

TO THE MINING REGISTRAR AT CLYDE OF THE
DUNSTAN MINING DISTRICT, AND ALL OTHER
PERSONS WHOM IT MAY CONCERN.
TAKE NOTICE that it is intended to construct
a Water-Race and divert water for irrigation
purposes, commencing at a point in the Main Tail
Race, Waikerikeri, half a mile or thereabouts from
lower end of Government Paddock, and terminating
at one point at Clyde Pound Farm, and at another
point at the Elms.
The length of such water-race is about one mile
and a half, with an average depth of nine inches,
and a width of two feet six inches, and to carry two
sluice heads of water, in accordance with subsection
1 of section 31 of "The Mines Act, 1877."
We have notified to all parties concerned of our
intention.

hitherto existing between the undersigned in
the business of Sheepfarmers and Graziers, at
Three Springs, in the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, in the Colony of New Zealand, was this day
dissolved by mutual consent.
