Notification of the Payment of Money on and Entry
into Negotiations for the Purchase or Acquisition of
Native Lands in the North Island.

NORMANBY, Governor.

IN pursuance of the provisions of "The Government
Native Land Purchases Act, 1877," it is hereby
notified that money has been paid by or on behalf of
Her Majesty the Queen for the purchase or acquisi-
tion of the several blocks of Native land in the North
Island, which are more particularly described and
mentioned in the Schedule hereto; and, further, that
negotiations in respect of such purchases or acquisi-
tions as aforesaid have been entered into by or on
behalf of her said Majesty.

SCHEDULE.

OPUREKE.

ALL that block or parcel of land in the Taupo Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known
by the name of Opureke, containing by estimation
1,500 acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commencing
at the Waipunga River, then ascending the hill of
Opureke, and along the summit of the ridge to the
upper or north end, then striking towards Waipunga
and getting to Waipunga, following that stream down
to the starting point. This land adjoins Runanga
No. 1 Block; it has not passed the Native Land
Court.

MATATA.

All those parcels of land in the Provincial District
of Auckland, known as Allotments Nos. 31, 32, 33,
34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, and 42, of the Parish of
Matata, containing by admeasurement 19,995 acres
or thereabouts. Bounded on the North by Allotment
No. 30 of the Parish of Matata; on the East by the
Tarawera River; on the South by a survey line; and
on the West by Allotment No. 63 of the Parish of
Matata aforesaid.

All that block or parcel of land in the Provincial
District of Auckland, known as Allotment No. 63 of
the Parish of Matata, containing by admeasurement
36,260 acres or thereabouts. Bounded towards the
North-east by the sea; towards the East by Allotments
Nos. 11, 12, 27, 28, 30, 31, and 39, of the Parish of
Matata; and towards the South and West by survey
lines.

RANGIURU.

All that block or parcel of land in the Maketu Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known
by the name of Rangiuru, containing by estimation
40,000 acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commencing
at the junction of the Kaituna and Waiari Rivers,
thence up the said Kaituna River to Tapuika back
tribal boundary in the forest, along the said boun-
dary to its junction with the Waiari River, thence
down the said river to its junction with the Kaituna
River, the starting point. This block has not passed
the Native Land Court.

PAREKARANGI.

All that block or parcel of land in the Rotorua Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known
by the name of Parekarangi, containing by estimation
80,000 acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commencing
at Wharerarauhi on the Waikato River, thence to
Akatarewa, thence to Hikumaro, thence to Te Ika-o-
Hotopuku, thence to Te Ahikaka-whakanoa, thence
to Te Punatakahi-a-Taniko, thence to Te-Whati-
whakao, thence to Waiparikuku, thence to Ngaoko,
thence to Te Pouporo, thence to Te Tuakanga, thence
to Tiari, thence to Wharerangi, thence to Te Turi,
thence to Te Hautu, thence to Pakahu, thence to
Makapoupoia, thence to Te Onepu, thence to Waiata,
thence to Ngamokopuna, thence to Pohueroa, thence

to Rahopaka, thence to Te Ana-a-tuhape, thence to
Te Mania-a-Hinemaru, thence to Ngaoko, thence to
Maungaiti, thence to Te Wawa, thence to Ngaroto,
thence to Ongarahu Stream, thence to Waikato River,
thence up the said river to Wharerarauhi, the starting
point. This block has not passed the Native Land
Court.

TUMUNUI AND RATOREKA.

All those blocks of land in the Rotorua District,
in the Provincial District of Auckland, known by the
names of Tumunui and Ratoreka, containing by esti-
mation 50,000 acres or thereabouts. Bounded on the
South by the Waikato River, from Akatarewa to the
mouth of the Whirinaki Stream; on the West by the
Whirinaki Stream, from its mouth to the Pa-o-te-
Atua-rere-tahi, and from thence by the ancestral
boundary to Otamatea; on the North from Otamatea
across Rotokakahi to Pareheru; and on the East by
the Paeroa Block, from Pareheru to Akatarewa on
Waikato River. These blocks have not passed the
Native Land Court.

PAEROA.

All that block or parcel of land in the Rotorua Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known
by the name of Paeroa, containing by estimation
100,000 acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commenc-
ing at the mouth of the Torepatutahi Stream on the
Waikato River, thence up the said stream to its
source; thence along the northern boundary of Kai-
ngaroa No. 1 Block to the Wairapukao, a survey peg
and mound; thence to Maungakakaramea, thence to
Kini-Kini Bush, thence to Te Waiu Bush, thence to
Pareheru, thence by Waipa to Waikorapa, thence
along the ridge to the east of Ratoreka to Paeroa
Range, thence along the summit of said Paeroa Range
to Te Waro, thence to Hikumaro, thence to Akata-
rewa on the Waikato River, thence up the said river
to the mouth of Torepatutahi Stream, the starting
point. This block has not passed the Native Land
Court.

KAPENGA.

All that block or parcel of land in the Rotorua Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known
by the name of Kapenga, containing by estimation
30,000 acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commencing
at Rau-o-te-Huia on Rotorua Lake, thence to Te
Hemo, thence to Ngapuketurus, thence to Te Ahi-
Kaka-a-Whakanoa, thence to Te Urupongo, thence
to Motuwhanaki in the Waikato River, thence to
Tieketahi, thence to Te Totara, thence to Te Roto-
houhou, thence to Te Purukao, thence to Te Takuroa,
thence to Otamatea, thence to Pareheru, thence to
Te Taheke, thence to Hope-Kokoa, thence to Teihana,
thence to Te Poukoropu, thence to Kataore, thence
to Tehe-no-Wakaihiko, thence to Waipungapunga,
thence to Papapahuri, thence to Te Marua, thence to
Tikinoi, thence to Te Ahi-Ngarahu, thence to Te
Uira, thence to Te Takapu-o-whainga-hunoa on
Rotorua Lake, thence by the shore of the said lake
to Rau-o-te-Huia, the starting point. This block has
not passed the Native Land Court.

ROTOMAHANA.

All that block or parcel of land in the Rotorua Dis-
trict, in the Provincial District of Auckland, known
by the name of Rotomahana, containing by estimation
5,000 acres or thereabouts. Boundaries commencing
at Te Hape-o-Toroa, thence to Kiri-Kiore, thence to
Whakahoro-o-Wharerangi, thence to Moetangi,
thence to Te Rota, thence to Kapiti, thence to Wai-
rake on the Rotomahana Lake, thence to Haumii
Stream, thence up the said stream to Rahakakape,
thence to Pakakahoroa, thence to Upokongawha,
thence to Kai-o-te-Kaka, thence to Te Hape-o-Toroa,
the starting point. This block has not passed the
Native Land Court.
