COUNTY OF BAY OF ISLANDS.

ORDER OF BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY COUNCIL.

W HEREAS the Bay of Islands County Council
did, at a special meeting held on the 28th day
of November, 1877, pass a resolution that the riding
at present existing as Russell Riding be divided into
two ridings, named respectively Russell and Kawa-
kawa Ridings, and that two members represent each
riding; and that the boundaries of such ridings shall
be as defined at such meeting of the Council: And
whereas the Council, at a special meeting held on the
16th day of January, 1878, did confirm the aforesaid
resolution, and did direct that an order in conformity
with such resolution be drawn up and sealed with
the seal of the county, and be forthwith gazetted
and publicly notified: Now it is by this order
declared that the boundaries of the Russell and
Kawakawa Ridings are as follows:-

Russell Riding.

Bounded towards the West by the Waikare River
to the western boundary of Baker's grant and by
that boundary, thence by a line from its south-west
angle to the northern boundary of the Ruapekapeka
Block, thence by the eastern boundary of the Rua-
pekapeka Block and by the Waiotu River to the
south-west angle of the Puhipuhi Block to its june-
tion with the Whangarei County; towards the South-
east by Whangarei County; towards the East and
North by the ocean.

Kawakawa Riding.

Bounded towards the East by the Waikare River
to the western boundary of Baker's grant and by
that boundary, thence by a line from the south-west
angle of Baker's grant to the northern boundary of
the Ruapekapeka Block, thence by the eastern
