Boundaries of Geraldine and Mount Peel Road
Districts altered.

A PROCLAMATION.

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and autho-
rities vested in me by "The Canterbury Roads
Ordinance, 1871," and "The Abolition of Provinces
Act, 1875," I, George Augustus Constantine, Mar-
quis of Normanby, Governor of the Colony of New
Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that from
the date hereof the portion of the Geraldine Road
District described in the First Schedule hereto shall
be severed from the said Geraldine Road District,
and shall be annexed to the adjoining Mount Peel
Road District. And, further, that the Geraldine
Road District shall from the date hereof be consti-
tuted and bounded as the same is described in the
Second Schedule hereto. And, further, that the
Mount Peel Road District shall from the date
hereof be constituted and bounded as the same is
described in the Third Schedule hereto.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at
the Government House, at Wellington,
this eleventh day of February, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight.

FIRST SCHEDULE.
Description of that Portion of the Geraldine Road
District to be annexed to the Mount Peel Road
District.

ALL that portion of the Provincial District of Canter-
bury, being part of the Geraldine Road District,
commencing at Tripp's Cutting on the northern
bank of the Orari River; thence easterly along the
road forming the southern boundary of Section 28572,
and along the Rangitata traffic bridge to the Upper
Ashburton Road District; thence south-easterly
along that district to the railway bridge over the
Rangitata River; thence south-westerly along the
said bridge and the line of railway to the Rangitata
South Railway Station; thence by a straight line to
the junction of the road forming the south-eastern
boundary of Section 28672 with the road passing
through Section 23536, and forming the south-west
boundary of Reserve No. 2162 (in red); thence
north-westerly along the latter road to the southern
corner of Reserve No. 2153 (in red); thence south-
westerly along road leading through Section 19206
to the Orari traffic bridge; thence along that bridge
to the centre of the river; thence north-westerly by
a line along the centre of the River Orari to the
Mount Peel Road District; and from thence return-
ing along the same to the starting point.

SECOND SCHEDULE.
Description of the Geraldine Road District, exclud-
ing that portion severed from it and annexed to
Mount Peel Road District.

THE Geraldine Road District comprises that portion
of the Provincial District of Canterbury bounded
towards the West and North-west by the Mount
Peel Road District, as above described; towards the
North-east by the Ashburton and Mount Peel Road
Districts; towards the South and South-east by the
Temuka Road District; and towards the South-west
by the Levels Road District.

THIRD SCHEDULE.
Description of the Mount Peel Road District, with
that portion of the Geraldine Road District above
described annexed thereto.
