6s. 9d., but, as I understand that he has no means, I
fear nothing can be recovered. At the inquiry
nothing could be ascertained respecting insurance.
I have since learned that the vessel and cargo were
insured in the following offices and amounts:
Vessel, £600, Standard; cargo, £1,400, South
British, and £1,000, National. The vessel was not
damaged so much as anticipated, for she was got off
and sent to Port Chalmers for repair.

January, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight, at Oamaru, in the Provin-
cial District of Otago.

Abolishing Tolls on Waikato Bridge.
IN pursuance of the power and authority vested
in me by "The Public Works Act, 1876," I,
George Stoddart Whitmore, Minister acting for the
Minister for Public Works, do hereby cancel and
abolish the scale of tolls for the Waikato Bridge, fixed
by Warrant, dated the 4th day of December, 1876,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
14th December, 1876, page 874.
This notice to take effect from the 1st day of
March, 1878.
Dated this 13th day of February, 1878.

Alterations and Additions to the Rates for the Con-
veyance, Delivery, and Storage of Goods, Parcels,
&c., on all the New Zealand Railways.
IN accordance with the By-laws for the New Zea-
land Railways, fixed by Order in Council, dated
the 17th day of April, 1877, the following alterations
and additions to the rates for the conveyance, deli-
very, and storage of goods, parcels, &c., on all the
New Zealand Railways, are hereby declared to be
fixed, and shall come into force from the eighteenth
day of February, 1878 :-
GRAIN.
Rate for freight of grain from Timaru and Wash-
dyke Stations to Lyttelton Station to be fourteen
shillings (14s.) per ton.
WOOL.
Rate for freight of wool from Timaru and Wash-
dyke Stations to Lyttelton Station to be six shillings
and sixpence (6s. 6d.) per bale of four (4) cwt.
Dated this twelfth day of February, 1878.

the rates for the conveyance, delivery, and storage of
goods, parcels, &c., on all the New Zealand Railways,
