Removal of Prohibition against Importation of Stock
into New South Wales.

THE following letter and enclosure, received from
the Colonial Secretary of New South Wales,
announcing the withdrawal of the prohibition against
the importation into New South Wales of stock
from this colony, are published for general information.

Sir,—I have the honor to transmit to you herewith
a copy of a Proclamation which was published in the
Government Gazette of the 29th ultimo, withdrawing
the prohibition against the introduction of New
Zealand stock into New South Wales, together with
a copy of the Imported Stock Act of 1871, the
Diseases in Sheep Act of 1866, and the amending
Act and Regulations of 1876; and to state, for the
information of your Government, that any stock
arriving in this colony from New Zealand will re-
quire to be accompanied by a certificate from the
Chief Inspector of Stock.

NEW SOUTH WALES, PROCLAMATION by His Excellency Sir
TO WIT. Hercules George Robert Robinson,
(L.S.) Knight Grand Cross of the Most Dis-
HERCULES ROBINSON, tinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Governor. Saint George, Governor] and Com-
mander-in-Chief of the Colony of New
South Wales and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same.
WHEREAS by section ten of an Act of the Parliament of New
South Wales, passed in the thirty-fifth year of the reign of Her
present Majesty, entitled "The Imported Stock Act of 1871,"
and numbered six, it is enacted, that "The Governor may, by
Proclamation in the Government Gazette, restrict or absolutely
prohibit for any specified time the importation or introduction
of any stock, fodder, or fittings from any other colony or
country in which there is reason to believe any infectious or
contagious disease in stock exists:" And whereas a Proclama-
tion dated the eighth day of July, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-three, was issued, totally prohibiting the introduc-
tion into New South Wales of any stock, fodder, or fittings
from the Colony of New Zealand, until such time as the
Government of that colony should issue a Proclamation, and
publish the same in the London Times, prohibiting the intro-
duction of all stock, fodder, or fittings, as before mentioned,
into that colony: And whereas the Government of New
Zealand has now, by Proclamation dated the twenty-seventh
day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven,
and duly published in the the London Times, joined with the
Australian Colonies in prohibiting the introduction of stock
into New Zealand from any country, colony, or place beyond
the limits of the Australian Colonies:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson, the
Governor aforesaid, do, by this my Proclamation, hereby with-
draw the prohibition issued as aforesaid against stock from New
Zealand, and allow the introduction of the same into this colony,
subject to such laws and regulations as are in force with respect
to stock introduced from any of the Australian Colonies.
Given under my hand and seal, at Government House,
Sydney, this twenty-third day of January, in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
seventy eight, and in the forty-first year of Her
Majesty's reign.
