Boundaries of District Court of Western Otago
altered.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the
Governor from time to time, as he shall think fit, by
Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, to con-
stitute throughout the colony, or in any part thereof,
districts within which District Courts shall be re-
spectively held, and such districts to abolish, and the
boundaries thereof to define or alter :
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twenty-third day of January, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-two, a district was defined
within which a District Court should be held under
the said Act, and it was thereby declared that the
said Court should be designated by the name of "The
District Court of Western Otago :"
And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the
twelfth day of January, one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-six, the boundaries of the said district so
defined were altered :
And whereas it is expedient to further alter the
boundaries of the said district so defined and altered
as aforesaid :
Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
powers and authority vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby proclaim and declare that, from and after
the first day of January next, the boundaries of the
district within which the District Court of Western
Otago shall be held shall be altered, and that thence-
forth the boundaries thereof shall be the boundaries
hereinafter described.
THE DISTRICT COURT OF WESTERN OTAGO.
Description of District.
This district comprises all that area bounded
towards the North and North-east by the Otago
Gold Fields District Court District, as defined by
a Proclamation dated the twenty-third day of
January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
eight, and published in the New Zealand Gazette
No. 10, of the thirty-first day of January, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-eight, from Milford
Sound to the Meggat Burn; thence by the Dunedin
District Court District, as defined by another
Proclamation of the same date and published in
the New Zealand Gazette as aforesaid, to the sea,
at the mouth of the Taieri River; and towards the
South and West by the sea to Milford Sound, in-
cluding Stuart, Ruapuka, and adjacent islands.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl of
Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and Baron
Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the County
of York, in the Peerage of the United
Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave of New
Ross, in the County of Wexford, in the
Peerage of Ireland; a Member of Her
Majesty's Most Honorable Privy Coun-
cil; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies,
and Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
twenty-third day of December, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by the eighth section of "The Mines
Act, 1877," it is enacted that it shall be lawful
for the Governor, in the Proclamation constituting a
mining district, and also from time to time, by Pro-
clamation subsequently issued, either by general or
particular description, to set apart for mining pur-
poses exclusively any portion of Crown lands within
a mining district, and in like manner to exempt from
occupation for mining purposes, or for water-races,
dams, or reservoirs, or for machine, business, or resi-
dence sites, any land within the boundaries of such
mining district, and from time to time any such ex-
emptions to revoke, and the limits and extent of the
land in any such district comprised to alter, as he
may think fit:
