ber, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-eight.

NORMANBY, Governor.

WHEREAS by the one hundred and forty-fourth
section of "The Land Act, 1877," it is enacted
that the Governor may from time to time, either by
general or particular description, and whether the
same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale
temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be
then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands
which, in his opinion, are required for any of the
purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony
of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the
powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act,
do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the land in
the Provincial District of Canterbury described in
the Schedule hereunder written, for the purpose in
the said Schedule specified.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Rakaia Road District, Provin-
cial District of Canterbury, containing ten (10)
acres, more or less, being Section numbered 2288
(in red). Bounded towards the North-east by a
road line for a distance of about 20 chains;
towards the South-east by Crown lands for a dis-
tance of about 10 chains; and towards the West by
I.P.Rs. H. and I on Run 67, Class 3, for a distance
of about 23 chains: as the same is delineated on the
official map in the Provincial District Survey Office,
Christchurch. For a gravel pit.

All that area in the Rakaia Road District, Provin-
cial District of Canterbury, containing five (5) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered 2289 (in red).
Bounded towards the North by a road line for a
distance of about 12 chains; towards the East by
Crown lands for a distance of about 8 chains; and
towards the South-west by a road line for a distance
of about 14 chains: as the same is delineated on the
official map in the Provincial District Survey Office,
Christchurch. For a gravel pit.

All that area in the Rakaia Road District, Provin-
cial District of Canterbury, containing five (5) acres,
more or less, being Section numbered 2290 (in red).
Bounded towards the South-west by a road line for
a distance of 7 chains 8 links; towards the North-
west by Crown lands for a distance of 7 chains 8
links; towards the North-east by Crown lands for a
distance of 7 chains 8 links; and towards the South-
east by Crown lands for a distance of 7 chains 8
links: as the same is delineated on the official map in
the Provincial District Survey Office, Christchurch.

Bounded towards the North-east by Crown lands for

west by Crown lands for a distance of 7 chains 8

distance of 7 chains 8 links; and towards the South-
west by Crown lands for a distance of 7 chains 8
