County of Cook declared a Weights and Measures
District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by section nineteen of "The Weights
and Measures Act, 1868," it is enacted that it
shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time
to appoint one Inspector of Weights and Measures
for any province, county, borough, or district, or
for each of two or more divisions of any province,
county, borough, or district, the boundaries of which
divisions shall be proclaimed from time to time in the
New Zealand Gazette by the Governor:

And whereas, by Proclamation dated the twenty-
second day of June, one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-four, published in the New Zealand Gazette
of the twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand eight
hundred and seventy-four, the Governor proclaimed
and declared a certain district within the Province of
Auckland (including the portion of the Provincial
District of Auckland specified in the Schedule
hereto) to be a district within the meaning and for
the purposes of the said Act:

And whereas it is expedient that the division of
the Provincial District of Auckland the boundaries
whereof are set forth in the aforesaid Schedule
should be withdrawn from the district pro-
claimed by the said Proclamation, and should be pro-
claimed a separate district for the purposes of the
said Act:

Now, therefore, I, George Augustus Constantine,
Marquis of Normanby, the Governor of the Colony of
New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the power
and authority conferred upon me by the said Act, do
hereby proclaim and declare that, for the purposes of
the said Act, the district the boundaries whereof are
specified in the said Schedule is hereby withdrawn
from the district proclaimed by the said Proclamation,
and is hereby constituted a separate division or dis-
trict for the purposes of the said Act by the name of
the Cook Weights and Measures District, and that
the boundaries of the said district hereby proclaimed
shall be the boundaries set forth in the said Schedule.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Provincial District of Auckland
known as Cook County, as described in "The Counties
Act, 1876."

Given under the hand of His Excellency the
Most Honorable George Augustus Con-
stantine, Marquis of Normanby, Earl
of Mulgrave, Viscount Normanby, and
Baron Mulgrave of Mulgrave, all in the
County of York, in the Peerage of the
United Kingdom; and Baron Mulgrave
of New Ross, in the County of Wexford,
in the Peerage of Ireland; a Member of
Her Majesty's Most Honorable Privy
Council; Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and
Saint George; Governor and Commander-
in-Chief in and over Her Majesty's Colony
of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and issued
under the Seal of the said Colony, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this
second day of November, in the year
of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-eight.

Lands taken for the Purpose of a Portion of the Rail-
way from Kaiapoi to Eyreton (Eyreton Extension).

A MEMORIAL.

LAID before His Excellency the Governor by the
Minister for Public Works, pursuant to the pro-
visions of "The Public Works Act, 1876," containing
an accurate description of the lands proposed to be
taken for a certain public work-to wit, the construc-
tion of a portion of the railway from Kaiapoi to
Eyreton (Eyreton Extension).

ALL that piece or parcel of land situate in the Cust
Road Board District, in the Provincial District of
Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand, containing by
admeasurement eleven (11) perches, more or less,
being portion of Rural Section No. 10038. Bounded
on the South-west by public road, two hundred and
ninety-nine (299) links; on the North-east by other
portion of said section, two hundred and eighty (280)
links; and on the South-east by public road, fifty-two
(52) links.

Also all that piece or parcel of land situate in the
Oxford and West Eyreton Road Board Districts, in
the Provincial District of Canterbury, Colony of New
Zealand, containing by admeasurement one (1) acre
two (2) roods and thirty (30) perches, more or less,
being portion of Rural Section No. 4643. Bounded
on the North-east by public road, six hundred and
seventy-two (672) links; on the North by public
road, one thousand five hundred and seven (1507)
links; on the South-west and South by other portions
of said section one hundred and thirty-two (132)
links, one thousand three hundred and seventy-seven
(1377) links, and six hundred and thirty-three (633)
links respectively.

Also all that piece or parcel of land situate in the
Cust Road Board District, in the Provincial District
of Canterbury, Colony of New Zealand, containing
by admeasurement two (2) roods and thirty-one (31)
perches, more or less, being portion of Rural Section
No. 6416. Bounded on the South by public road,
nine hundred and seventy (970) links; on the West
by public road, ninety-six (96) links; on the North
by other portion of said section, nine hundred and
fifty-five (955) links; on the East by other portion of
said section, fifty (50) links.

The several parcels of land being more particularly
delineated on the map marked P.W.D. 6569 hereto
attached.

I, the undersigned, James Macandrew, the Minister
for Public Works, hereby certify that the above-
written memorial is true and correct in the several
particulars thereof.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by "The Public Works Act, 1876,"
it is enacted that, whenever lands are required
to be taken for public works, the Minister for Public
Works shall cause a survey to be made and plans to
be prepared showing generally the nature of the
works proposed to be executed and the lands required
to be taken for the same, together with the names of
the owners and occupiers of such lands so far as they
can be ascertained, and shall cause a copy of such
