NOTICE OF ALTERATION OF RIDINGS IN THE side of Humboldt Street, in the Township of Hamp-
COUNTY OF AKAROA, PROVINCIAL DISTRICT OF den; the total distance being 122194 links.
CANTERBURY.

N OTICE is hereby given that, in accordance with 682
the provisions of "The Counties Act, 1876,"
this Council has resolved that, instead of the four
ridings of Le Bon's Bay, Raupo, Okain's Bay, and
Little River, as described in the Government Gazette
No. 63, 28th November, 1876, there shall be con-
stituted the following four ridings, namely:--

Le Bon's Bay Riding. Bounded towards the North-
east by the sea; towards the North-west by the
middle of the Okain's Bay Valley Road from Rural
Section 20956 to Rural Section 4976; towards the
South-west by the highest ridge of the hills; and
towards the South by the summit of the spur leading
to Putakoto Head.

Okain's Bay Riding. Bounded towards the
North-east by the sea; towards the North-west by
the Pigeon Bay Riding; towards the South-west by
the highest ridge of the hills; and towards the South-
east by the Le Bon's Bay Riding.

Little River Riding. Bounded towards the North
by the Kaituna Stream to its source westward of
Rural Section 12357, thence in a direct line to
Mount Herbert Peak; towards the East by the
Pigeon Bay and Wainui Ridings; towards the South
by the sea; and towards the West by the Selwyn
County.

Tai-Tapu Riding. Bounded towards the North by
the Selwyn County and the Port Victoria Riding;
towards the East by the Port Levy Riding; ; towards
the South by the Little River Riding; and towards
the West by the Selwyn County.

ROADS PROCLAIMED COUNTY ROADS, COUNTY OF
WAIPAWA.

Waipawa, 1st October, 1878.

I HEREBY proclaim, in accordance with section
88 of "The Public Works Act, 1876," the follow-
ing roads to be County Roads, viz. :-

  1. The road now in use from Norsewood to
    Ormondville, starting at the eastern side of the main
    road from Wellington to Napier, on the boundaries
    of Sections Nos. 64 and 65, in the Norsewood Settle-
    ment, and running 6725 links in a south-easterly
    direction; thence 1700 links towards the north-east,
    thence south-easterly 1825 links, thence in a north-
    easterly direction 168 links, thence 3000 links
    towards the south-east, thence 648 links in a north-
    easterly direction, and thence south-easterly 15750
    links, where the road joins the proposed line of rail-
    way from Napier to Manawatu. The said road is
    1 chain wide, 27991 links in length, and is situated
    in the Tua-Tua (or Manawatu No. 6) Block.

  2. The road now in use from the Waipawa-Hamp-
    den Road to Ashley-Clinton, starting in Block
    No. 66, Patangata District, and running in a north-
    westerly direction 12353 links; thence 71041 links
    towards the south-west, thence 739 links south-
    easterly, thence 8290 links towards the south-west;
    thence 30858 links in a north-westerly direction,
    thence 21675 links towards the south-west, termina-
    ting on the eastern boundary of Block No. 218, Rua-
    taniwha District; the total linkage being 144956.

  3. The road in continuation of the Waipawa-
    Hampden Road, commencing at the Manga-o-nuku
    Stream, and running in a westerly direction 38350
    links; and thence in a north-westerly direction 83844
    links, terminating in Block No. 152 on the eastern

THE following Resolutions, passed at a special
meeting of this Council held on the 15th day of
August last, altering the Boundaries and Number of
Ridings in this County, were this day confirmed.

  1. That the name of the Ruataniwha Riding be
    changed to Waipawa Riding.

  2. That the Waipukurau Riding be divided into
    two ridings, by a boundary line which starts at the
    Tauraekaitai Stream, at the western boundary of
    the Eparaima Riding, follows up the Tauraekaita.
    Stream and Whatatuna Stream to the southerr
    boundary of Block No. 83, Porangahau District;
    thence along the southern boundary of that block to
    the Mangapurakau Stream, following down that
    stream and the Waikapioro Stream to the western
    boundary of Block No. 70, along the western and
    northern boundaries of that block and part of the
    northern boundary of Block 83 to the eastern
    boundary of Block 69, and along that boundary to
    the Maharekeke Stream; thence down that stream
    to the Makaretu River, and down the centre of that
    river to the Tukituki River; thence crossing that
    river to the mouth of the Waipawa-Mate Stream,
    following up that stream to its intersection with the
    road from Waipawa to Onga-Onga, and along that
    road to the Waipawa River: and that the portion of
    the original riding lying to the west of such boundary
    line be called the Ruataniwha Riding, and the
    remainder of such original riding be known as the
    Waipukurau Riding.

  3. That the Porangahau Riding be divided into
    two ridings, to be known respectively as the Eparaima
    and Porangahau Ridings; the portion of the Poranga-
    hau Riding known hitherto as the Porangahau Road
    District to be the Porangahau Riding, and the
    remaining portion hitherto known as the Eparaima
    Road District to be the Eparaima Riding.

  4. That the Patangata Riding be divided into two
    ridings, to be known respectively as the Patangata
    and Tamumu Ridings, by a boundary line starting on
    the Tukituki River, at the mouth of the Mangatarata
    Stream, following down the centre of the Tukituki
    River to the mouth of the Mangarara Stream, and
    following up that stream to the southern boundary
    of Block No. 76, Mangakuri District; along the
    southern and south-eastern boundaries of that block
    and the south-eastern boundary of Block 75 to the
    Mangakuri Stream, and down that stream to the sea-
    coast: aud the portion of the original Patangata
    Riding lying to the north of such boundary line shall
    be called the Patangata Riding, and the remaining
    portion of the original Patangata Riding shall be
    called the Tamumu Riding.

  5. That from the Patangata Riding the portion of
    the said riding included within the boundaries speci-
    fied in the Schedule to this resolution be taken from
    the Patangata Riding, and added to the riding hitherto
    known as the Ruataniwha Riding, but now called
    the Waipawa Riding, the boundaries of the said
    Patangata and Waipawa Ridings being henceforth as
    follow:-1st. Of the Patangata Riding: Starting on
    the Tukituki River, opposite the mouth of the Ma-
    ngarara Stream, following up the centre of the Tuki-
